So I've been vaping exclusively for about a month now. I've got a KR808 (a pass thru, 2 manuals) and recently have been going through cartos (blanks that I fill) like every day. It seems like in the beginning I could make one last a couple days but lately by the end of the day they seem 'bad' - they don't "crackle" just kind of make a sizzling noise, low vapor, bad taste and the stuffing inside never goes back to white. I'm very careful when filling them (I've always followed Dormouse's instructions exactly) I don't think it's a bunch of bad cartos cause it's happening from two different boxes. What am I doing wrong?? I'm amazed to read that people get a week out of one!

Also, do any companies sell these things in bulk? Seems silly to only sell them by boxes of 5 - I'd think buying in bulk would be cheaper. Thanks a bunch!

The best way to fill a Cartomizer is to count the drops required, then look into the air hole. If there is no juice add another drop slowly until you see the juice fall into the air hole. Blow out excess, and or shake until clear. Wait 20 minutes or longer, so the juice soaks throughout the polyfill and coil (s). Make sure the carto is standing upright. When you start vaping, take short 1 second hits 3-5 times. Then that carto should start wicking properly. When the flavor starts to diminish, it's time to refill. Drop juice until it falls in the air hole again. You should get a week out of it easily, if kept wet.. If this process doesn't work, then you have bad cartos..Good Luck.. :)

Dormouse posts some great info on how to use cartos and I see that you've already found some of her posts. As a person that can't use cartos, I can tell you some of the things I do wrong and maybe that will help a little.

It's all about wicking and heat. As the juice vaporizes, it has a cooling effect on the coil, and if the coil is well fed and not heated too hot, this will be a nice smooth operation. I call that the good hit. Two things that help maintain this: 1. wattage. 2. draw time.

No 2 first: Practice taking really long draws. A 6 second draw allows twice as much wicking time as a 3 second draw. Give it at least 3 seconds to allow wicking time from the batting before repeating.

No 1: Use the button to control heat. Hit it early for more and get off it for less. Don't stop your draw just because you got off the button--the hot coil will continue to produce vapor.

My problem is that I don't follow that advice. I do when I'm paying attention, but I have a bad habit of chaining three or four vapes in a row. If I'm using a carto, I'll get to reading or something and go vape, vape, vape, singe, EEEEYYOUUU, cuss a little, then continue on. Pretty soon I'll do it again tho, and by the end of the day (if that long) my carto is ready for the trash can. That's why I use attys and topcoils lol.
