I am new. I purchased the 510 starter kit from Electronic Stix which includes a manual and automatic battery and four pre-filled cartos. I also ordered a box of blank cartos and some juice. I have noticed that when a cartos starts to run out, I get a burned taste / smell. If it is just s little bit I can re-fill and it is good to go. I know that cartos are disposable and when burned should be tossed. My question is thus:

If I were to get an atty and a cart, would I have a better chance of not burning the cart or is the risk the same?

Thanks...

With a 510 the choices of cartos and carts is almost endless. An atty and cart doesn't last
as long, and if the filler gets a burnt flavor, it's easily replaced.
It wouldn't be a bad idea having an atty or six around as a backup, (can't have too many backups)

For your cartos, at the first sign of the flavor changing at all, drip more juice in there, don't
wait till the vapor stops, it's usually too late by then. A little pratice and either should work,
it's only experience that will let you know, when to re-fill and which you like better.

Yes this. :) I love 510 cartos myself. I use the Boge brand. Flavor drop or vapor drop (sometimes these two things happen at the same time), more liquid goes in and you're good. You'll get a feel for it.

Carts - more chance of burning since they run low more often, but you can replace the stuffing with the blue foam (see precut piece for 510 at strictylyejuice.com) and that is less prone to burning. Some people have trouble with melting 510 carts a bit with the atty. To help avoid that line up the atty bridge and cart's juice cup

With cartos - ones I own have the internal atty closer to the mouth end. If vapor is weak, I tilt my ecig mouthpiece down briefly (led up, mouth end down) and that seems to wet the atty. I don't run them dry - I want to use as many times as possible.

And BTW - no-stuffing cartos like CE2, Clearimizer, Fluxomizer and may be some others exist - they don't have stuffing so there is none to burn. They do have wicks and maybe you could singe something like that, but no stuffing. These usually need a special syringe to fill.
