The blue foam is called AquaClear- I believe- It is also sold in the aquarium sections of pet stores... PetSmart as a specific place that definitely carries it.. It is a bit more firm than the Fluval... I haven't tried it yet, pics of it to me look almost like a plasticy type material... supposedly bit isn't... My Fluval works great so I have never had the need to change to it- For some people they like it better than Fluval but some never used the Fluval before going to blue filler- it worked for them so they didn't try Fluval- The old adage...

& I agree...
Once you find what works for you with satisfactory results, not really a reason to try anything else-

I'm going to head out to the pet store this morning and get some fluval and blue foam. I tried the tea bag method and didn't have much luck with it. It seems there are many different methods and I likely didn't try them all but gave up when I noticed how much precious liquid I was wasting.

Between rinsing the original, the fluval and the blue foam, I should be able too accomplish something.
