Since I started using ecigs, I've been using prefilled cartos. I wasn't sure how quickly or slowly I would go thru them, since it's only been a month and a half since I started. But I've been going thru them pretty quickly... I assume it's cause I take such long deep drags that the cartos run out so quickly. Plus, before I quit smoking, I was smoking cigarettes kinda like cloves- filtered cigars. They were VERY strong; enough that I was supposed to see a pulmonologist to see if I had emphasema (sp?), an appointment I had to cancel by the way because since I quit, my cough has stopped completely. Anyway (I ramble), It looks like it's gonna be expensive sticking with the prefilled cartos, so I just ordered e-liquid, drip tips, and blank cartridges... just enough to give it a try. So... I could use all the advice I can get on dripping!!! Does it really save a lot of $? Is it difficult? What's the easiest technique? What's the best technique? Is it just as enjoyable as prefilled cartos? Please reply with advice and experiences! Thx!

Hi fuzzie, there's two methods I know of - dripping or the what's called the condom method. I've tried both, and for me dripping into the top of the carto was better. I somehow seemed to overfill them a bit with the c method, and seemed to waste a bit of juice. I tried it quite a few times. Now I find 15-20 drops down the sides of the top of the cart works fine. This is steeljan's video on it - skip to the 1 minute mark for the dripping bit. And there's also the condom fill with taryn spin - see here

And yes, just as enjoyable.

Hi fuzziefreakie , as Kiwivap said give the refilling the carts a try. Those "used Up" carts are still very useable , so 20 drops or so will bring them right back to life , I've refilled some off mine at least a dozen times so far. Wash them out every few refills and you will be saving money.

Another thing you may want to give a try is a "Clearomizer". It is a "Container" you just fill with the juice and puff away.
Here is an example --> Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | VOLT X2 Clearomizers - Accessories.

The absolute easiest technique is using a Ego-T or 510-T. You just pop the top off, fill it up, and stick in the atomizer. With this type of system you can actually see how much juice you have left so when its done just refill.. no carts, no filler, no condom method, no dripping... SIMPLE.

I heard somewhere that a carto isn't good anymore to refill once you get that burnt taste. Is that true? Cause when I'm at the end of a carto, the vapor is still strong even through the burnt taste. Does that mean it's OK to refill? And, is Volt a good brand? I've been using V2cigs. Mainly because they were rated the best on a website I looked at, and they had the most flavors! heehee Although they don't have such exotic flavors as some I've seen. How do I know if a certain Clearomizer is going to fit on the V2 batteries?

I refill mine after a slight burnt taste and they are fine. I have never had a strong burnt taste so don't know about that - I've read that you need to ditch them at that point. Is the V2 a 510? Volts are 808s - so you need to know what type you have. 510 cartos will fit a 510 threaded battery. 808d-1 cartos will fit Volts. Volts have a very good cartridge - but if you have a 510 then buy 510 cartos.
You can buy adapters so you can mix them up tho.

I had no idea! I have to find out what the V2s are. I think they sell some kind of adapter, but I don't know the specifics.

Fuzzie , it looks like the V2 is using a KR808D-1 type cartridge from what they have on their web site so that would be the type of "Clearomizer" fitting you would need. That is the style that SmokelessImage uses also so you could try on from there.

If you did not run the cart to dry and burn some of the wick/filler you can most likely clean the cart and refill and get rid of the burnt taste. I've had good luck with the SmokelessImage carts , they seem to be a little more dry burn friendly.

And on their "Clearomizer" I have been using the same one for a while now and just a little flushing every so often and no problems with it yet. For the $6 it may be worth a try and see if helps.

But the other responses here so far should also help you out ... The EGO C is a nice setup if you are looking for a new E-Cig. It is not a Cigarette lookalike but does the job nicely. I have both the SmokelessImage X2 battery/Clearomizer and several EGO's and like them both for at home ... The SmokelessImage cig lookalikes are what I use of out and about town puffing.

The main thing is don't give up.

OK, I've been flipping through sites and watching videos, and using eliquid doesn't look as complicated as I thought! I had the same nerves the first time I had to change the flint on my zippo lighter years ago. lol. Turned out to be no big deal. I had already ordered a bottle of the V2 flavor I use. They have lots of flavors but nothing really exotic. So I found this website that had like 200 flavors eliquid, and it wasn't too expensive- Plus - They offer the juice in 24 and 36 mgs. V2 only offers up to 18 mgs. (I just quit smoking so I'm still hooked on the nicotine.) So I ordered 6 flavors in 24 mg strength (Well, one in 18, cause they didn't have 24 in that one). So I'm excited about this now!
The thing with my cartos (the V2 ones) is that there is no warning when it's running low. The vapor doesn't decrease at all. One puff is fine, and the next is burnt. So I'm gonna try to gauge them by time, since I'm pretty familiar with how long one usually lasts me. But thank you for the reassurance that not all is lost after the first burnt taste! :)
If I have any trouble or doubts, I'm Definitely going to try out the Clearomizer. As for ecigs that aren't analog look-alikes, they're really not for me. Not Yet, I should say! You never know. But for now I like the feel of something like an analog cigarette... but I Love learning about all these things and options and details! Oh, yeah, the V2cigs company sells an adapter to use their cartos on other batteries. But not the other way around. But that's great that you found the type of cartridge; I'll have to remember that for the future. Thx sooo much for your help, everyone! I'm not gonna give up! ;)

Hey Fuzzie, don't be put off by the size of the ego-c batteries. They really aren't as big and bulky as they look in the ads. I also have a V2 standard size ecig and my ego-like inferno is roughly the same length and only very slightly thicker. It is shaped a bit like a small cigar.

Thx! I will have to look them up!

If you do go with an ego style battery, be forewarned a lot of us have had issues with the T system, the tanks leak, and a lot of other issues. Now not everyone has had that experience, tho it has been enough of us that there is thread after thread about it here in ECF. So if you do decide to try the ego C or T tank system make sure you pick up one or two cartos or clearos just in case.
