Hi all. I've been lurking for a bit and decided to take the plunge and introduce myself with post #1.

First I want to thank everyone here for posting your experiences, reviews, etc. I did a lot of research here before I got my 808 about a month ago, and many of the posts were very helpful.

I thought I'd share my experience for anyone who is thinking of getting in to the world of vaping. The one thing I can tell newer vapers like myself is not to be discouraged. I was introduced to vaping by a variable voltage PV with gourmet juice - it was awesome. So I ordered an 808 with prefilled cartomizers thinking I'd get a similar experience, but I was dead wrong. The cartos I got have either extremely weak or no flavor and many (about 30%) were dead on arrival. It was such a disappointment that I almost gave up. But I found a shop nearby that sells amazing juice, picked up a few bottles and learned to refill my cartos, and now I am loving it.

If you're a casual smoker who wants to try vaping, and you're not discouraged by a bit of maintenance get an 808 with some blank cartomizers and a few bottles of good juice. And watch some videos on how to fill the cartos. You won't regret it! It takes a bit more fiddling to really enjoy vaping than it does smoking, but it is well worth it.

Welcome, Papachabre! Yours is some very good advice to new vapers.

I started vaping with 808's and still use them when I'm out and about. For the new vaper, cigalikes are probably the most comfortable to use while switching, and learning about eliquid and refilling carts is where the real cost savings kick in. (Then, of course, some of the cost savings are neutralized when the desire to upgrade kicks in, lol! But that's temporary, I think, unless hobby turns obsessive...)

I grew up in Ohio and am always happy to see a vaper from there here on the forum!

Thanks Ania! Yeah I could see saving some cash by refilling, but really what I'm getting out of it is much better flavor and vapor. I won't say whose carts I purchased (I'll save that for a review later on) but they are just not good. The shop nearby that sells juice will let you stop in and sample their flavors, so I was able to find some I really liked. That makes the difference for me. If I had to put up with shoddy juice then I would not have kept vaping.

I could see myself buying something with a tank later on for home, but I'm like you - I want something portable when I'm out, and I want something discrete when I'm at work. And right now an 808 fits the bill.
