I mangled the subject. Should read CBS-NEWS E-Cig story

One of the most irresponsible piece of journalism on an e-Cig story I have ever witnessed

Electronic Cigarette Fans Fire - CBS News Video

And to think I thought Fox ws bad. "We distort, you decide". Be ready to cringe while watching a "doctor" make a complete uninformed a** out of himself.

Where does this "marketing to adolescents" nonsense come from? Almost immediately after that comment, the high price of the starter kits is mentioned, which suggests quite the opposite.

I detest this style of "report." The doctor says "we don't know if it's safe," and for the rest, simply parrots whatever the interviewer says. As a consequence, the interviewer supplies the perspective, and the bulk of the story is without qualification or nuance. I find that unprofessional.

Unfortunalty the is the second time that CBS has attacked like this --but having watched enough of these--I am used to the one sided hits that so many news agencys blar out now---All we can do is wait and see how bad the regulations are going to be --------Sun

If it makes you feel any better, this is the original show from Feb. that had us all in an uproar. I love *sarcastic love that is* how Dr. Whiteson says "we don't know, but we don't think so!" That still gets me. You don't know? Well hows about you do some testing or look at the testing available before you run around stating these falsities?

Ahhh... the silliness of some of these people.

However, for those seeing this for the first time, CBS did follow up with this article Chinese "E-Cigs" Get Attention, Scrutiny - CBS News which is a bit more fair and less one sided.

And more discussion: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...420-ecigs-cbs-eearly-show-today-2-27-a-2.html (sorry for the link to the middle of the thread... but this server too busy stuff is starting to drive me nuts!)

That is beautiful........"we don't know, but we don't think so" just when did that get you on the news as an expert

I was amazed when I heard that. A medical "expert" saying it too in that broken sentence. Passing judgment without facts or data to go on.

May as well have been the subject of room humidifiers. They make vapor too. Some "experts" tend to be idiots in the end.

(Granted, I only started vaping a week and a half ago, but I educated myself enough through media and forums such as this to make an informed decision and learn the basics and risks, unlike that doctor chump who was probably introduced to the e-cig that day and coached into what to say)

Walter Cronkite or Dan Rather needs to go back to CBS. Perhaps real news could be reported for a change instead of this uneducated rubbish.

Just another example on Government using the media for it's own agenda. Happened back in 63 when JFK was killed. Why should today be any different?

This guy is a complete ......... How in the you know what.. is this as bad as smoking a real cigarette? This sounds like a comment coming from a person that has never smoked a day in his life, and as far as the guy on the left taking a drag and saying it tastes horrible... They are probably one of the cheap e-cigarettes you buy in the mall and a factory cart... Thats a totally unfair interview! What garbage

Lacy I recognized it as that Febuary show as well.
What a joke, but I'm not laughing.

No... sadly it isn't a joke. But what this did do was it got more Drs. thinking about the ecig in a positive way. Just like with Sen. Lautenburg coming out against the ecig, I believe right around the time of this show, it pulled Dr. Nitzkin, Dr. Seigel, Bill Godshall, David Sweanor, Rep. Stearns, etc. out of the woodwork where they, as prominent quit smoking guru's (Stearns is an eSmoker, not a q-s-g) said "Hold up! This is a great product and yes, testing needs to be done... but to ban it would be devastating to the fight against the devils of smoking" (very loosely paraphrased).

So... for every one .....$$ like this, two stand up for the ecig. We may still be slightly outnumbered... but our group of advocates is quite wonderful and all are extremely influential in the anti-smoking world.

And to think... It was the show "The Doctors" that threw the ecig into mainstream focus.

Hey Big Jim W

I completely understand what your saying and the media does what they are told not unbiased at all. When we think of who owns the different new sources. General Electric, Disney etc. It makes me sick. And I agree with you completely about JFK and the Government too. I also wanted to let you know I liked the videos of yours on utube. I like you get to the point and speak your mind and shame the devil.

Hey Roxinal.

I don't blame you when you said that the news is biased, in fact, on some days I don't even watch the news at all. Either my girl is watching QVC, or we have the radio on. In fact, due to what is happening in the world today, all the news is the same depressing bulls*** day in and day out. I usually watch the local news... just for the next day's weather forecast.

And with BigJimW's YouTube (and his very own spin-off site, Pit-Tube) videos are pretty succinct, to the point and I know that he doesn't beat around the bush with topics that he has on his mind and he sure isn't afraid to speak his mind.

Back on topic, we do need more unbiased news reporting on the airwaves, but since the public is brainwashed, by so many sources, it's hard to trust one source or another. So until that day comes, it's going to be the same old bulls*** day in and day out.

My three cents.

Cheers,
