CE2 cartomizers....

OK, has anyone else had CE2 cartomizers that tasted nasty? I opened a package of 808's, and of the 5, 3 of them tasted metallic and gross. The other 2 were ok, but I'm really bummed if this is the crash and burn rate on these. I know VaporJunction gets them sealed from the supplier, so I don't blame them, they rock, but *dang*, that is *bad* to have such a high DOA rate! I'm afraid to open the ones I got for a Joye.......

vapwench, the good news is that you have a supplier here who really does care about their customers. There is no doubt in my mind that DeXTeR will help you find the answer to this problem.

Just got mine. Followed instrutions to fill. Geez those holes on each side are soooo tiny! What happens if you don't use the holes and use the openings towards the middle instead? And how to you know when to refill them? Mine couldn't take a full 1mm without overflowing.

Mine are the KR808D-1's. Was wondering how else can you refill these? Can you drip into the them from the bottom?

Some members have successfully used the condom fill method but we have not tried this here at the office. The way we fill them is using a 3cc syringe (21 gauge). Pull approx. 1.5 ml into the syringe, push needle into one of the refill holes and start to fill. When you see liquid coming out of the other refill hole it's full. Blow out any excess and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will allow the wick to get properly saturated before using. As far as knowing when to refill. It's better to be safe than sorry with the CE2. Top it off every couple of hours just to be sure that you don't burn the wick. Once you burn the wick on these cartos it's game over. The burnt taste don't go away so it's time to break open a new one if that happens.

There are a ton of threads on ECF devoted to the CE2 cartomizers with guy's and gal's with much more experience with these particular cartos than anyone here at the office.

We are however putting in our order for the new clearomizers tonight so that will take the guess work out of when to refill as you can actually see how much liquid is left. If all goes well we should have them in stock in a couple of weeks.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

When you mention 'top is off every few hours' how would you suggest doing that...with the syringe again?
I use carto's on my KR808D-1, however, I take the soft tip off and replace it with a drip tip. Every so often I drip into the tip to keep the carto wet. I don't suppose this would work on the CE2?

I have used these with quite a bit of success, but I too found some of them to have a foul taste to them. The last batch I bought I pulled all the seals out and let them soak in very hot water, not quite boiling. The new clearomizers are supposedly without any primer in them, and they are in fact see thru, so no more guessing when to fill.

Once I cleaned mine out, dried them over night in front of a fan, they vaped perfectly. just make sure to line the slots up to the wick on the bottom seal. I use a drywall screw to put the seal back in. ( I also refill them by taking them apart and dripping down the outer edge until I see the fluid near the top of the ceramic cup)

This may sound like a lot of trouble, but it is what I found worked well for me, and enjoyed these once I cleaned them out. Again, the new ones are supposed to not need any cleaning out what so ever.

This vendor seems aweome, and have heard great things about their service. Their response to you in this thread is the way it should be with all vendors, but that is not the case.

There are probably as many ways of dealing with CE2's as there are people, but DeXTeR is right, there are a ton of threads on ECF devoted to the CE2 cartomizers and its worth your time to read a little on them.

I clean new ones with a vodka soak to get any PG out of the carto (that eliminates the taste that was referred to) and when I think about it I give them an overnight soak in vodka followed with a good rinse and allowed to dry.

As far as modifying them goes, I do take out the seal ring and the fill ring and pack a piece of the absorbent material around the cup. This has improved the wicking. Then I replace the seal ring and tip and vape happily away.

I'm still using CE2's that I bought from VaporJunction last September, so I think I'm doing something right.

Hi there TexasT, I agree with all you said, in fact I learned most of it from you, since cleaning with vadka and moding with the filler the way you said, I have had no problems at all with the CE2's at all, although now and agin I will vape one to long and burn it myself, LOL.:facepalm::facepalm:

Hiya sleepyjean!! Good to catch up to you again. LOL, don't give me credit for anything. Just about all I know about CE2's came from Turbo and Tiger, they've been my guru's.

The new clear CE2's might be just what you need to stop burning them dry. I'd have ordered some myself by now if I could wear out the ones I have.

Good to hear from you lady and stay in touch with us on here.

Hey TexasT, good to catch up with with you too, I just got some new one's from another vender ( I think you know the one) because TVS has been out of the 808's they said they won't be getting them in for a month or two, anyhow they came yesterday but there's no little packs of filler with them so I don't know if they are the new one's or the old version, it says they are the ceramic. Do the new one's come without the little filler pads? if not what can I use instead if I feel I need them, I'v seen the vids on the tea bags but that looks like a lot more work than the filled pads.
Take care down there in Texas.:)

Hi sleepjean. DeXTeR is liable to come over to East Texas and slap me for all this "advice," but you might want to try this if you decide its necessary.

Take out the white mouthpiece part, remove the seal ring and then raise the fill ring just a little bit. Fill the CE2, leave the seal ring out and replace the white mouthpiece. This takes the pressure off the wicks and they wick a lot better.

I tried using a little piece of blue foam instead of the white filler material, but didn't have much luck with it.

I've actually taken the fill ring completely out, use my syringe to fill beside the ceramic cup, put the fill ring back in just a little bit and then put the mouthpiece back in.

I've found that a pick that you use to get the meat out of walnuts is ideal for removing the fill ring. Little bit of work, but its not hard.

Just try this on one to see if you like it. Sometimes I do get a little juice in my mouth if I over fill.

Its hard to tell if you got new cartos, old ones, or what. The manufacturer just sends stuff out and you can't blame the supplier. The clear ones are almost certainly new though and I haven't tried them yet. And it may be that you don't have to do anything to them.

I'll say this, I've heard a lot of people say they don't want to fool with the CE2's - that they want something that is going to work perfectly when they get it. And I can understand that. But f you don't mind doing a wee bit of tinkering, you are not going to beat the flavor, vape and th you get with the CE2's.

I agree TexasT, for the small bit of tinkering we have to do on the CE2's, it well worth it, I can't imagine ever going back to reg carto again. I'll try pulling the filler ring out a little and see if that works, I can't seem to get the filler ring back in when I take them all the way out but the filler worked just fine. I'll have to look for one of those picks to, I use a tool from our auto repair shop and it works good on eveything but the filler ring, don't ask me what that tool is called because I don't know, I just do the books, LOL.
Thank for the help, I really appreciate it.

I personally find that the 510 XL CE2 Clearomizers work well on the Riva 510 at 3.7. However taste is very preferential especially when it comes to vaping. Best thing to do is not buy any quantity until you try them for yourself.

I know that's not a lot of help. Hopefully some other members will chime in on this as well.

Thanks
