just started using the lava tube mini . . . but I'm having issues with the ce3's. at 3.7-higher, all my liquids taste burned.

What ohm CE3 are they? If they are really low ohm that could be why..not that I know much about CE3's because I use CE2's but it will help get better answers if people know the ohm of it.
I have the newer CE3's from MiT (not smokymizers) and I have noticed that some of my more 'delicate' juices need around 3.2-3.5 volts and the CE3's were 2.8Ω.

I use CE3s. They're 2.4ohms. I don't have any burnt taste problems at all, although they seem to work best at around 3.8-4.2V. My guess is that you're having wicking problems, although with a bottom coil I don't know how that's happening. I run 100% VG in mine all the time without a problem. If anything should cause wicking problems, 100%VG should. Also, some juices just always taste burnt at higher voltages. What kind of juice are you using?
a standard 510 is around 3.2v fresh. If that is what you were using then just drop it cause it's hot.
