CE3 just leaks, pretty much useless, apparently

So I followed the instructions that come with them and dripped some liquid into the little hole with the syringe. Immediately it starts dripping out the bottom where it connects to the battery and does not stop until almost all the liquid is gone. What a waste of liquid. I have tried two of them, and had the same result. So are they designed to be useless, or is there something missing from the instructions, here?

Surely someone must be able to use them successfully? What's the trick to it? Is this a common problem, or have I had terrible luck in getting more than one defective CE3?

I don't want to be rude, so I apologize if I misunderstand your post, but did you drip liquid into the center hole? The center hole is an airflow tube. It isn't supposed to have liquid in it. If you have a bottom coil CE3 (also called a "Phoenix), here is how they are supposed to be filled:

Ah, it makes a difference if you fill it upside down. That was not in the written instructions, I think :/
