I'm sure this hasn't come up in sometime now, but I am just getting back into it and CE3's were my favorite. Now that I have to start all over again, could you tell me of any setups that use coils without the cotton in them? That is what I loved about the CE3's--no cotton, and I liked the bottom coils. I am willing to try a completely new set up as long as it doesn't involve cotton in the wicking (hope I'm getting the wording right!). Thanks so much!!

Hi Valjean.

A Non-Cotton Pre-Made Atomizer might be Hard to Find. Because just about Everything has turn to Cotton as the Wicking material of choice.

You can still find Ekowool (Silica) in bulk like what the CE2's/CE3's used. So you could try your hand at building Your Own Coil and then put them into a rta.

Many people Swear by Rayon over Cotton for wicking. But once again, you would be looking at an RTA.

Is it the Taste of the Cotton that makes it a No-Go?

I recommend the Kanger EVOD bottom coil clearomizer (doesn't matter if they are clones ore authentic but the authentic have a slightly tighter draw). Make sure it is the EVOD, not the EVOD 2 or EVOD Glass.

Whether you buy a clone or authentic EVOD clearo, they will likely come with the original coil that have silica wicks.

For the coils, you would buy the Kanger MT32 coils if you want silica wicks. They have a cotton version that I love called the SOCC coil. But you want to stick with the MT32 coils if you don't want cotton wicks. Most places still call them the "Evod/Protank coil", but Kanger now calls them MT32.

If you're willing to pay the $5 for shipping, I can send you a new EVOD clearo with coil so you can test one out. I have many and can afford to let go of one for you to try (yes it'll be brand new). If interested, send me a private message.

2 best places to buy these clearos and coils in the USA...

Lightfire/KangerwholesaleUSA
- MUST sign up to see prices because they are a wholesaler. Sign up as a retail customer, not a wholesale (resale) customer
- Shipping runs about $9-10 and free for orders above $75

EVOD Clearo (must buy a 5-pack) - $17.63

MT32 Coils 5-pk - $2.65

EcigMafia
- code ECM10 should get you 10% off your order
- shipping will be around $11. I don't think they offer free shipping.

EVOD Clearo (must buy a 5-pack) - $15.99

MT32 Coils 5-pk - $3.86

Looks like CE3s are still available and being used in the THC/CBD market
    ce3 atomizer - Google Search
    https://steepslopevapesupply.com/product/a3-g2-atomizer-5-pack/

"A3 1 Atomizer produces a big warm vapor. Pure and clean taste. No burnt taste.
The A3 1 Atomizer has a normal 510 threading, so it can work well with most batteries with a 510/eGo threading
Fill and use with CBD oils, THC oils, and Eliquid. Can be used with All available batteries.

The A3 1 Atomizer is also known as an O Pen style or CE3 atomizer ."

    I Believe a CE3 is a 510.

    CE3 XL Clearomizer

Oh my. Those are thin. I have some clearomizers similar to that. I think the generic name for what I have is the Nano clearomizer. Mine are Buck Naked brand called "Skinny", which are bottom coil.

I also have some Buck Naked Escape top coil clearos, which are Kanger T4S/Esmart clearos.

Both have silica wicks and 510 connection.

I say go with the EVOD for an exponentially better vape.

With September 9th right around the corner, I would Love to see someone like @Valjean move to an RTA.

But I can Completely Understand Her maybe wanting to get some (or a Bunch) of CE3's if that is what She Likes and is used to.

The same goes for doing DIY e-Liquids.

The e-cig I started with nearly 7 years ago is from this company - Vapor Cigarette | Tasty Puff. Since these use CE4 coil heads, and I've never even heard of CE 2's and 3's, I feel like a newbie again.. I guess we always will be.

From a Long Ago Closed Thread...

"CE2 = Top Coil Design. Warmer, Stronger Hit.
CE3 = Bottom Coil Design. Cooler Milder Hit.
CE4 = About the same as the CE3 only Bigger.
    "

ce2, ce3, and ce4 what is the difference

BTW - The CE2 was the 1st Clearo. And even though it had a Tortured Development of 3 Steps Forward with 2 Steps Back at seemingly Every Bend in the Road, many Advancement came out of it that are today Taken for Granted.

BTW2 - I have No Idea if the Site listed above is On the Level. I have Never purchased anything from them. Even though their name sounds Vaguely Familiar.

But their section under "Plastic Tanks" is like talking a walk down Memory Lane.

All the CE4 clearos I have are top coil (see below) (with non-replaceable coils. I believe the CE4x was the replaceable coil version of the CE4). Just like the Escape/Esmart/T4S tank I posted above, except bigger and ego threaded. The CE line was all messed up with companies releasing stuff with the wrong CEx name. That's why I didn't bother too look up a CE3, because what OP has and knows as a CE3 may not be what Google images shows me.

That's why I recommend the EVOD in cases like this. The 2 places above keep restocking them and the price is low enough to stock up a bunch. The coil heads are rebuildable if you have the eyesight, dexterity and ambition - much more rebuildable than your average factory coil. About $3.50 per clearo and about $3 per 5-pack of coils - that's why I stocked up on them. And your choice of cotton or silica wick coils.

Yeah... Just about Everyone jumped on the Clearo Bandwagon. And it turned into a Huge Mess name-wise.

And it wasn't until Aspire(?) finally broke New Ground and came out with "Tank" that they called a Viva Nova that people started to move away from the CE_ namespace.

I admit to a stash of cleros, evods, CE4s/coils, ekowool and a vivi nova or 2 as well as eGo-C atomizers/cartridges. Thanks for the smile walk down memory lane. :)

Coils are so much different now then they were back then, worlds better, you might want to take a second look at newer gear.
