I got a couple of the CE9 tanks (GotVapes is calling it the 'Splitfire') last week from Rnoserious' co-op. (Gotta love co-ops, ~$21 for two tanks and five extra heads.) I rewicked the stock coil on one with cotton (CVS Rolled cotton) on Friday and just rewicked it again, still going strong :vapor:. This thing is AWESOME! :D This is a Vivi Nova-like tank with the juice and head in separate chambers. I don't have any Novas, so haven't rebuilt this type of atty yet. Has anyone rebuilt one of these CE9s/Splitfires? With regards to rebuilding, are they like the Novas?

They have the same head design, but the dimensions are a little bit different. The CE9 head is a bit taller and the contact point/screwbase is longer. The grommet also appears to be a thicker more translucent material, (perhaps silicon?) as well. The regular vivi is rubber-like and white. Not sure if they are interchangeable with each other.

I did a ss mesh pipe/bamboo hybrid rebuild, but after looking at my pictures of the set up, I felt that they were too sloppy to post.

I did get an unbelievable result. Maybe I will post the video if anyone is interested.

i don't understand this thing.. why have a separation with holes that can constrict juice wicking when this is just like a vivi nova...

I don't have any Novas; but do have a Stone V3 tank. I wasn't very impressed with it which is why I never picked up a Nova. I like the 'juice in a separate tank' concept, less chance of getting the "gurgles".
I've rewicked my CE9 with cotton batting and have made very thick wicks (not really intentionally :D) and have had no trouble whatsoever with wicking being affected.

Definitely post, g. If neatness was a requirement here, I'd have to break all my cameras

Ok TomCatt, you asked for it...

I did not even try the stock configuration. (I dont like silica). The first thing I did was to remove the majority of the top of the atty head. I only needed the screw attachment and base to secure the coil. I used 400 SS mesh and created a 3.5 mm tube that had an inner diameter of 3mm (mesh calc at PV Web Apps worked perfect!). I hand wrapped a .... ugly 4mm coil with twisted 32g kanthal a1 to accommodate a 9 wrap coil which provided 2.9 ohms. I place a total of 16 threads of Aunt Lydia's #10 bamboo, 4 threads for each hole.

Here is what that tube looked like prior to inserting the wick...pretty cool.

Here is a test firing of the set-up.

Vapor production looks pretty good, but it vaped like #$%. Airflow was sub-optimal..... still need to work it out. Suggestions?

If I remember correctly Gdeal got his @ GV & TomCatt just stated he got his from the co-op.

I have held off buying yet, because I noticed apparently different models that connect differently.

In one the top of the tube shaft is non threaded & the top of the bottom tank is threaded to hold it together.

& the other appears to have a threaded tank shaft hold it together & the tube is not threaded.

I assume the both have 510/vivnova head threads?

My mind races with potential mods, but I am waiting a bit until I figure out which one I like better. I will watch this thread to help mE decide.

(out of the box thinking). Awesome vapor production in that video.

With the ones I have, the heads are not 510 threaded. They are smaller than a 510 connector; although Rno showed pictures of Nova heads fitting on the CE9.

(I don't have any Novas, do the heads actually fit into a 510 connection?)

I have been able to get them to fit...

From another project...

I solved for air flow on the ss mesh set up.

I plug the bottom air holes, then made two air inlets in the chamber at wick height. Still vaped poorly. I felt like the air was not adequately reaching the coil - to much distance from chamber wall opening to the coil.

I cut two 6mm length pieces of tube from a 18ga blunt tip needle.

Perfection. :vapor:

When I get a chance, I wanna try a similar set up that I had going with one of my SmokTech rebuildable tanks - similar to what you did g. SS wick with cotton wicks dangling off the ends, not going through the SS. I think I may try putting the wick through the wick-slots and not immediately remove the 'barrel'.
