Here's the important part folks: "The damage occurred even with nicotine-free versions of the products." It's on now. They don't want us vaping anything. ...ever! All the counter arguments we make about reducing nic to 0 or vaping nic-free juice to begin with are going to be systematically dismantled with garbage like this. Look for this "study" to be quoted ad-nauseum.

I've been saying for a while now that the carriers (PG/VG) are more troublesome than the nicotine.

I have no plans to discontinue nicotine, EVER.

I have no *plans* to discontinue vaping, EVER.

As long as there are some us out here with rebuildables, mechs, and nic in the freezer... they ain't "dismantling" anything.

I agree 100% in as much as I have been saying for quite some time the FDA is going after everything
equally. The juice and hardware and each and every component and material that goes into making
them. To them they are all harmful and in need of deeming whether there is nicotine or not.
And then there's the chillin'.

Commented, with the flippancy such a bogus "study" deserves.

ETA: They're showing that comment as "pending" for some unknown reason. This was my comment:

"I'd just like to know what "internet university" gave a medical degree to someone who thinks e-cigs are as bad as cigarettes, because anyone who truly believes that obviously doesn't know an azz from an elbow." *edited here so you can actually see what I wrote*

In fact, that researcher(s) will probably be greatly honored. And that is the extreme danger of mixing science with politics. Nothing has changed since Copernicus decided to delay publishing until he was on his death bed. Nothing.

I understand vg may have an issue, but as far as pg that stuff has ben used medically for years. If it was a huge issue, wouldn't it have ben caught years ago?

Seems to me it would have. The purpose of my statement was to illustrate how harmful nicotine ISN'T.

From the very limited information that "stuck" in my head from all my more than average, but mediocre biology background, is that cells with the exception of some, do not stick around for long.

From the moment they are created, they start to degrade. So I wonder what "cells" they chose to experiment with?

Here is the first page I found when I looked for how long to cells live?

» How quickly do different cells in the body replace themselves?

Barnes sums it up best when he states: “All this study is highlighting is the fact that exposing already cancerous cells to cigarette smoke, nicotine or vapor may accelerate cell death, but of course, only if you swim in it.”

The way I interpret it is that vaping kills cancer cells, particularly those associated with head & neck squamous cell carcinomas. Basically ecigs could very well be The Cure for cancer!!

SOrry, all this makes me think of one of my favorite parts of the movie "Sleeper" 1973. It supposed to be the year 2170?

Its 4 mins or so, but the "kicker" is at 3:30 point. It when all the hoopla about organic, and healthy blah, blah was at its start....

"What kind of government you got here? This is worse than Califonia! —Miles Monroe (Woody Allen), Sleeper

Good luck all. :D

Excellent rebuttal of this nonsense from StatsGuy

Dangerous nonsense about vaping | The Stats Guy

Snort... my favorite line in his article was "There are such crushing levels of stupid in this article it’s hard to know where to start."

I'd say that sums it up nicely! I also enjoyed his description of this lackwit "journalist" blocking those on Twitter who disagree as the "la la la I'm not listening" argument -- which is pretty much the only argument all these ANTZ have to offer.

This seems excessive on first glance and was this vapor form or liquid form?

Link to the actual study http://www.oraloncology.com/article/S1368-8375(15)00362-0/fulltext I am still reading the study but thought others would like to see it as well.

It seems normal cells (HaCaT) are not effected much compared to control.I have a feeling the test methodology is not very robust in ruling out contamination.I was wondering why there was some damage in control ?.
