What is is going on in this forum? Lately, I've seen more and more posts that were deleted by mods. Now I just saw a 3 page recent thread that had 10 deleted posts in only the first 2 pages! And they weren't from only 1 or 2 people, as is sometimes the case. Eight different members had posts deleted!!
Some of the posts were from known active members.

I don't know what they all could have possibly posted that was so bad? The reason for deletion on each post says "under review". What the heck does that mean?

We're all adults here. Other then spam, or posts verbally berating other members, there should be very few reasons to delete posts. Especially so many in one thread.
This really makes no sense, and I'll be very surprised if I'm the only one seriously bothered by this.

I understand it is sometimes necessary, but it appears to be getting out of hand, and it's a very slippery slope.

I'm hoping to get a rational explanation from the mods here.

Some threads can be deleted by the OPs request (Original Poster). I had a thread once turn so sour that I asked a mod to simply delete it.

Other reasons may be the persons attempt to gain the number of posts needed to be able to post external URL links in messages. Or the thread was simply moved to another section, or that the thread may have been violating some rule, or a supplier advertising themselves in threads.

I take it with a grain of salt. ;)

Hey Ez,

In that particular case we were being spammed. Hence the deletion!

We don't like deleting posts, but we do do it from time to time when we think it's in the communities best interests to do so.

All decisions are taken with a consensus amongst the moderators hence, when a post is deleted and the message: "under review" is placed this means that a mod has deleted the thread and is taking advice on whether or not that post should remain this way.

Thanks!

In your bushes, watching you undress
Being one of those under review (for quite funny posts, I might add!) all I can say is that we are guests in the Admin's home, and have no rights to question their decisions.

So to me it's no biggie. I hate that others missed the comedy-fest in that particular tea bagging thread... but I do not question the mods need to edit the comments out.

Oh! It was THAT thread! LOL! Yes, I can see why a bit of moderation may have taken place! (Was quite funny though.... but rather off topic :D)

All up in your grill..
Not to play devils advocate here but. My posts are pretty edgey (I am the op of the teabag joke thread, And a few FDA are murderer type threads.) I am extremely opinionated and outspoken. The only time i have ever had a post deleted it was due to a change in my status (as a supplier). Other then that one instance (which I don't really agree with but DO understand and am willing to accept.) The mods haven't touched any of my posts. Also they have always answered any question or concern I have put forth. They have been polite, fair and reasonable. Remember that if a spammer throws a link and 8 people quote him in a comment those 8 quotes still contain the spam. As far as I can tell the mods are all good people and this forum is pretty much open to any topic. With the exception of spammers trying to take advantage or a bunch of pointless flaming.

Jusy my take..

Yeah, but YOUR posts didn't refer to: Blumkpin, Dirty Sanchez, Donkey Punch, Roman Shower, Alaskan Pipeline, Eiffel Tower, Hot Lunch,...

;)

I find that pretty dam funny. I'm sure some would not. But this is kind of exactly what I was talking about. I mean, it may have been a little colorful, and off topic, but it certainly wasn't spam. Cmon, we are adults here. Yeah, I get that some will take offense to certain types of comments, but if you start deleting everything that may offend some, you in fact, offend others by doing so. I perfectly understand foul language and certain other things being deleted, but this isn't a workplace environment, or a church forum. Occasionally, as adults, some of us will post things that are a bit risque. Typically it is done in a humorous way and I think most people would either laugh or just shrug it off. I say again, we are adults. If certain people are so puritanical that it offends them, well basically, that is their own issue to deal with. If you want pure, wholesome, goody goodness all the time, then you better not turn on the tv or radio. In fact you better never leave home, or maybe you should just become Amish.

As I originally said in my first post, this is a slippery slope. While I respect the rights, of the owners of this forum to run it as they choose, I also expect quite a bit of discretion, and I'm not sure that is always the case.

I personally DESPISE censorship. Especially when the desires of a few, are imposed on many. And, there are many here who would get a good laugh from things considered off color, or risque. I'm not saying downright vulgarity should be allowed, or anything like that, because I believe there is a line that should not be crossed in a public forum. But slang and innuendo, along with occasional bathroom humor should absolutely not be censored. Because after all, we are adults. So treat us like adults. We can take it.

At the risk of being called old and prudish (I might qualify on the first), let me say that I think it appropriate that the posts be 'pulled for review.' The OP asked a question and got some off-topic responses...responses that, at first, to her were "rude" as they came across as "insider jokes." Yes, I was raised during a time when that action was considered rude...just like people speaking another language in front of someone who doesn't speak that language was considered rude.

Then when they were explained, she found it distasteful that "gutter" humor was being posted in response to a legitimate question. Granted, she got a little preachy...but, hey, that's her right.

Why is it ok for folks to call her old, prudish, holier than thou but not ok for her to think the way she does????????
