At the risk of being called old and prudish (I might qualify on the first), let me say that I think it appropriate that the posts be 'pulled for review.' The OP asked a question and got some off-topic responses...responses that, at first, to her were "rude" as they came across as "insider jokes." Yes, I was raised during a time when that action was considered rude...just like people speaking another language in front of someone who doesn't speak that language was considered rude.

Then when they were explained, she found it distasteful that "gutter" humor was being posted in response to a legitimate question. Granted, she got a little preachy...but, hey, that's her right.

Why is it ok for folks to call her old, prudish, holier than thou but not ok for her to think the way she does????????

I agree with you totally it is very immature humor i fall into that category at times as well of course I know when to be mature and still sometimes choose not to be

but I see your point She has every right to feel that way, but it probably would have been easier to just ignore the senseless comments and not add fuel to the fire :D

You don't sound like a prude with that comment, if my opinion matters :D

One of the hardest differences to overcome is the differences in sense of humour. My ex wife was very serious and found it hard to see the funny side of anything.... I can't remember her laughing at any comedy shows on TV and there is no doubt she never 'got' any of my humour. I was always managing to say something that upset her when it was only a joke. I think I must have been brought up on too much Benny Hill, kenny Everet, The Young ones and Monty Python.

Because other people were smiling, and she came out offended from the gate. Because its 2009, not 1919. Because people start explaining that they were just enjoying some light humor, not at her expense, and she starts spewing scripture and continues on her path of idiotic righteousness.

My problem with that thread was actually mostly with the OP, to be honest. Yes, she asked an innocent question, and received quite a few off-color remarks, however those remarks came AFTER the answers she was looking for - contrary to her claims that the first few responses were people laughing.

She then had several people explain, in very polite terms I might add, what the "inside joke" was to which she made a blanket remark about "everyone's rudeness" and lack of manners, furthering this by calling one poster bereft of moral standards.

I believe MrKai said it best here:

That said, I believe it was a bit, I don't know, "uncool" for you to make a general statement moralizing due to your own ignorance of the phrase. Most of the responses were quiet chuckles :)

It WOULD have been quite cruel, tasteless and juvenile if folks were toying with you, asking leading questions, etc.-K

She should have left it alone long before this happened. But no, she then had to comment on MrKai's (and everyone else's) emotional immaturity (I'm still trying to figure out the "medically speaking" aspect of that post) and alluded that she was caused to "suffer". Puhlease. If she had suffered, she would have left the forum long ago.

Out of curiousity, I took a look at other posts she has made. One in particular really irritated me.

Dear jigtg,
I find your reply inappropriate and very embarrassing, when you bring up women’s bra sizes, and cow dung, on a e-cig question!! Please refrain from posting comments like that, on ANY of my, or other posters, future questions or comments!

(For the record, jigtg was talking about news stories and "trying to make a point". I don't know why she got so upset about this.)

To make a loooong story short, I do believe that it's okay for her to think the way she does. Personally, I don't care a whit how she thinks. I did not appreciate her moralizing and debasing remarks, much less her commands that other people should not post what SHE deems is inappropriate on ANY posts in the forum.

Who died and made her mod?

I'll get off it now.

This is after all a non-mandatory forum. If you are offended by someone else's humor, you are free to leave the thread! Or just ignore them. That being said, I believe that if you want to remain viable, moderation should be used with extreme care. Otherwise, people will not come and information and enlightenment will be lost. If someone is being just downright extreme, then certainly a mod should speak with that person and if needed delete the post and ban the poster. But it needs be clear that the offender broke a RULE, not just responded in a manner that someone else considers rude. I am from the south, and many, many times I see the behavior of people from the north as rude. I have learned that it is indeed a cultural difference and no reflection on the persons intent!

What I find most upsetting is the ability of the suppliers to delete comments and close/delete threads on a whim. That, to me, screams that the supplier is trying to hide something and I no longer do ANY business with that supplier. I think that a moderator or committee of moderators or the owner or someone should review the SUPPLIER threads and correct that issue post haste. If a supplier that ECF supports is bilking the members of this forum, IMHO, someone should invite that supplier to leave the forum. The members place a certain amount of trust in the forum leadership to keep out the fraudulent suppliers.

Without going into specifics, I responded to two questions on a supplier forum. My response was factual and non inflammatory. The supplier deleted my response arbitrarily and left the original two questions unanswered. Needless to say, the $300+ order I was going to place is no longer going to this person. I really wanted the product, but I do not trust that the supplier would not do to me what he/she was doing to the OP. That's fine, his/her loss, not mine. However, if a valid supplier now gets a spammer/flamer on his forum and deletes the posts, what do I, as a consumer, think? Do I not buy from this honest supplier as well as the crook? That is why I think the moderators efforts would be more effective in dealing with the supplier side of the equation and not the morals of the members.

That is actually a pretty funny thread, especially with regard to the OP who shall be forever known as Mrs Holier then thou.

But what about the thread I was looking at. What the heck were you all posting about? Now I'm dying to know. :D

lol, I told the OP that it was very likely that they would die if they ever tried to vape again.

My two cents: sometimes people need to get their short-hairs pulled, some people are very rude and nasty to others, I can personally give you names!!
I see no need for that kind of stuff at all. It disrupts the thread for those who are trying to follow the thread, it's rude to the OP, and it's a waste of cyber space that our Benefactor provides to graciously for people to take advantage of. I get tired of those who "Quote" every single sentence someone writes and proceeds with cutting nasty and unfair remarks and judgemental self-proclamations.....Yes, everyone has a right to say what they want. But sometimes saying it is just not right. People forget to preserve any dignity of the ECF. Ganging up seems to be catchy for some, like a lynch mob! Not very pleasant for anyone else. Sometimes it just isn't done for fun, it's done to denegrade and humiliate, not a bit clever or funny, and I don't go for that at all. I think the practice should be un-welcomed by the mods, in no uncertain terms.
