Problem resolved. Going counterclockwise was the answer.

Yep - they're reverse threaded so that screwing an atty down doesn't adjust the pin (this happened a few times with the first run of the new 510 and was why Rob switched to the reverse threading).

If it comes out again and you lose it (hey, it happens), Rob has extras you can get to replace it.

Here is a trick that I discovered. I am part of the senior generation so therefore have difficulty seeing close up at great detail....
On the allen key I got with my REO, I placed a round of tape at the height of the top of the set screw. Then, when I put my set screw onto the key, the key does not extend past the end of the screw. The key also seems to hold the screw, so I can insert the screw into the 510 and get it started just fine. (I do not even have to see what I am doing, it works so well.) I got the idea from using the tape on drill bits to set the depth of the hole I am drilling.

Wow. Such a simple but effective tip there! MUCH easier than my previous method. I used a 20ga blunt needle to hold down the screw until the threads caught!

And I tape drill bits for depth all the time...o_O

Yeah I was supper frustrated. I figured I should ask the experts after messing with it for 10 minutes. Soon after the post I went and found the instruction guide and read about counter clockwise... It was my dohhhh moment. The tape trick above I will have to remember for the future.

All good, quitter (you mind if I call you "quitter"?). Glad you're sorted and I suppose now that you'll be the first person to post about it being reverse threaded when this issue comes up in the future (and it will, count on it).

We all had to learn the tricks of the new 510 (of which, there is one... the one you discovered) somehow.
