Thank you so much for starting this forum. Since I started vaping two weeks ago, I have spent many hours reading a variety of threads to find answers to basic questions. Mostly, what I find are debates.

When I ordered my e-cig kit, I had no intention of giving my regular, analog cigarettes. I quickly found that I much prefer the e-cig, and am now on day four of no analogs! However, I find I am vaping like a steam engine. Is this likely to subside naturally in time? I am using 18 mg liquid and going through two to three carts a day. Is this the equivalent of one and half packs of analogs? Is it worse?

Your e-cig use will level off in time to your level of nicotine dependence. You might need stronger liquid; you might use a lesser quantity. Going in, no one can tell you exactly what you'll be doing in three months. Your body will dictate your needs through wants. Follow your needs.

18mg is not strong liquid. You don't say what size carts, but even large ones will yield a daily usage of perhaps 2ml of liquid. That's 36mg of nicotine entering, of which half or perhaps up to 70% might be absorbed. That matches nicely with a cigarette habit of about a pack a day.

If your needs are not being met, move up to 24mg e-liquid and use it less frequently, as you did tobacco cigarettes smoked on breaks.

I think I found out what Bob says to be the case with me but in a different manner. I vape between 12 and 18mg and have since I started almost 6 months ago... And I was power vaping (chain vaping). It really didn't bother me much because I enjoyed it. If I'd go to 24mgs I start getting the hiccups - my 'early warning' for too much nic.

What happened with me is when I got the bartleby/nicostick mod and the protege with the 14500 battery, I was getting a higher voltage than with the regular or mega 510 batts for a much longer period of time and either the nic absorbtion or the vapor production was such that within a couple of weeks of having those mods, I started setting them down and it's been that way for over a week now. So, I did power vape for about 5 full months. Only now am I able to set it down or vape like I used to smoke - ie. not constantly - although I was a 3 pack a day smoker. But I wasn't lighting one off the last one ;-)

Anyway, for me it wasn't increasing the mg in the juice, but increasing the absorption by the more consistent and better vapor production where the absorption must have increased to where I didn't need to be in 'pacifier mode' all day.

I see nothing wrong with chain vaping, if it keeps you from sucking carcinogenic cigarette smoke into your lungs.

Smokers are said to have an oral fixation. Goes back to suckling or something... Well, the e-cig is a great adult pacifier. Use it as needed, when needed. To date, there is NO indication that it harms your health. Can't say that about smoke!
