We already know the Reo is the best mod out there....without question.

After some experimentation with the RM2 and Chalice over the last 6 months I have come to the conclusion that the Reo+Chalice is simply the best setup.

The Chalice and RM2 have their own pros n' cons, even though they are very similar. The RM2 is VERY easy to build a coil on. The RM2 has a ceramic base, which is cool but becomes less valuable once you can build a proper coil.

The Chalice is a bit more difficult to build a coil on due to its offset posts. The main reason the Chalice wins is because of the lowered, centered drain. With the Chalice, I never have flooding or leaking issues. With the RM2, I would often have some leaking or excess juice not being drained back.

In practice, they vape the same to me, but one never leaks and one does.

(Yes I know you could buy 4-5 RM2s for the cost of a Chalice, but Im just telling my experience)

I like my chalice too. But I prefer the RM2 for ease of rebuilding. They vape exactly the same to me. I agree that the center drain is superior, but I'll take the trade of simple rebuild on RM2 over it.

I also like that I can use 28 ga and lower on RM2s. The lowest I can get in my chalice is 29 and even that's pushing the connection between the screws and wire for a decent grab. My chalice has the thumb screws that grip the wire to bite (no threads in posts).

I sold 2 chalices once I got my first RM2s.

6 months ago, before RM2, I would say this thread was money. Now, I'll agree that the chalice is the baddest AYuss RBA ever made, but the RM2 for me is a better all around package :)

I have a Chalice from the first batch, with standard posts instead of the strange new ones - and I like it better than the RM2s. But I needed to modify it to have the air hole line up (mostly) with the coil.

They are not available, of course, but there is another option: The AeroVapes BF is using the same setup and is almost as good as the Chalice - But it needs modding, too, because it comes with no air hole in the top cap. For some strange reason AeroVapes thinks that air through the squonk hole is a good thing.

I used to think the same way but just recently I've been using an immortalizer on my reo that also has the air coming through the squonk hole because it never was really even designed to squonk in the first place and let me tell you that the air coming through the squonk hole is really not bad at all... can't say anything else as far as the aero though, or if it might work as well as this or not though, I'm thinking maybe not because it has the air inlet down by the 510 connector? not even sure how that could work at all, maybe that one does really need to drill a hole in the side cap but without having it in your hand it's hard to say for sure and it's not impossible that it may actually work as designed too....

Well, I have the BF, of course, and in my opinion it is unusable without an extra hole. Once that is there, the BF is a twin of the Chalice and works well.
While it is desirable to have direct air to the coil from below, that does not work when the same hole is used for liquid and air. I personally can not stand the gurgling that is inevitable if the squonk hole is just 1.5mm for both liquid and air.

Then in theory you could squonk while taking pull for extra air and bigger hits ..? Haha I'm a cloud chaser all these are the things I think about.

well the limitations will be the air flow, you're only going to get so much, and there will be no need to add fluid as you hit it because you will not be getting enough air to go with high enough power to overpower your squonked wick with just one hit, plus the juice will then block airflow and get drawn into the airflow, don't see this working well at all :)

crash the cyclone is absolutely kick ..., the immortalizer is different, not better just different. having both I'd recommend the cyclone for the higher powered big hitters and the immortalizer to the lower powered sipping type... the immortalizer is sweet but the cyclone is def more intense. if you're a cloud chaser then get the cyclone and call it done

Then I'm done? Really? I mean...I knew I was close...oh joyous days! No more stalking the mailman!

NOT!

I've been following your Immortalizer mod threads and I think I shall get one now...just out of spite.:) (Besides...it looks like fun!).

I've been playing with the Patriot lately (it's huge!) but it's really just an IGO-W on steroids (or is an IGO-W just a 98 pound Patriot?). Three posts, ginormous well, and enough room to build anything you want.

Mike, it's just really good to see you posting about having found your sweet spot. I remember many posts where you just weren't getting the flavor you needed/wanted. I'm so glad the Chalice did it for you. I have a couple of Chalices and I love them. However, I use the RM2s almost all the time because they're so easy to coil.

Thanks JC, its been a long bumpy road for me. I believe the turning point was when I drilled out the Chalice to 3/64. The flavor improved to an acceptable level.

I'm with you .... I have two chalice attys and they are 95% of what I use daily for my REO vapin .......

They just can be beat IMHO ...... You are exactly correct that the drainage is the key for me.
Zero leaks in over a year with them. My RM2 will leak almost every time if it gets tipped over for a period of time.

Love my Chalice attys and sadly passed on a chance to own a third ..... Kicking myself now and would pay top dollar if anyone has one they want to let go.

I just scored a Chalice 1 and can't wait to try it out. The idea of a non-flooding, leakproof BF atty is exciting to say the least.

So I need to use 30 gauge on it, then? I am a big fan of 28, but I can get a great coil with 30 too. Just a tad bit higher in the resistance.

28 works just fine on the first run of chalice attys. I've used it as well on the second run but its a be-atch to get the screws tight without snapping them.

For me the second run of chalice attys was a huge down-grade ....... The first runs are awesome in every way.
