I've been hearing this on the radio and came across the newspaper article link in the Canada forum. I simply astounds me that Health Canada warns us not to use e-cgarettes and yet,

"Lake said that Health Canada has also conducted and completed several reviews of Champix, and has reaffirmed that it considers the benefits of Champix outweigh the risks."

It made me want to write the Premier and suggest that if they truly want a "Smoke-free BC", they should be providing free PV's instead of free Champix.

In the comments this morning (they beat me to it):

It's time to allow nicotine-containing E-cigarettes to be sold in Canada. People have successfully quit using this device by weaning themselves off with the different strengths available.

It is clear that Champix is not safe for those who struggle with depression--and any drug that messes with the brain should not be so freely prescribed.

The key is public pressure. People who want to quit smoking should send both e-mails and hardcopy letters to both provincial and federal health ministries. Non-smokers could really help by doing this, too, in support of smokers.

That would accomplish a lot more than sniping at each other.

If you don't have the common courtesy to die a slow and expensive death for your masters from smoking, then the least you can do is allow us to screw up your brain, so that you either require more expensive psych drugs, or kill yourself and/or your family. Which is fine for our depopulation plan. Remaining a healthy, happy and productive long-term consumer of nicotine is just downright rude!

Sarcasm off.
