changed rsst to cotton wick and now i hear a "POP"

Hey Guys,

edit: i took the rsst apart and put it into vodka for 30 minutes before i changed wicks.i just took it out of the vodka and placed it in a paper towel to get the excess out.


I had my local bnm shop build a coil for me since this is my first rba(RSST) and it was firing like a champ. a week later i just decided to replace the wick to cotton wick as one of the guys here said and now i put in a different juice (peach 11mg, maybe MBV?) now the smoke cloud is minimal and EVERY fire there is a "POP". did i do something wrong?

you might not have the right amount of cotton in there. Too much can choke off the flow of juice and can even lead to the juice crackling and popping. Too little and once again not enough juice going to the coil. Cotton is a delicate balance. A little practice and you will figure out what owrks for you.

my guess is i made it too skinny. should i try again?

U think you made the cotton too skinny? U want the cotton to be able to slide back and forth through the coil with just a little resistance. It expands when wet. If it is barely able to slide through the coil, it is prolly too thick.

yep pull out the cotton and try again. Cottons cheap you can keep trying until you get it the way you want it.

Thank you all, including OP for this thread! I was having this problem on my phoenix clone. Now I can adjust my wick thickness and try again!!!

I usually get a poping noise when I build really hot coils. When I had a Kanger mini it used to pop also, its most likely just the juice burning up
