I have multiple cartos, each marked with their own flavor. After I've re-filled them a few times, I un-mark them(pull off my little colored rubber band) and run them all through the boiling cleaning method. After drying for a day in my dehydrator, I re mark and refill with flavors. My point is, once they're cleaned, I don't have any way of knowing what flavor used to be in them. But so far I haven't had any problems with any lingering colors or flavors. I use menthol, fruit flavors, caramel, vanilla, etc., and haven't had any problems with "cross flavoring" with this cleaning method so far.

Hey thank Took, thats kind of what I thought but I wanted to get a second opinion. You said you use a dehydrator, where the heck do you get one of those and are they expensive? Do you have to use a dehydrator? I always wondered if the boiling process took a toll on the cartos?

I've used a syringe with a large attachment on the end that tightly holds the carto. Pull and shoot a bunch of close to boiling water through it for a few minutes, then unload the water and spend another few minutes blowing the water out. After you're done with that, throw the carto in the oven at a fairly low temp(200 degrees is what I use) for about 30 minutes to finish drying out the filler. I haven't tried other methods, but this one has worked pretty well for me.

I would have to suggest, not to use isopropyl alcohol in your cartos. Even if you do rinse them out in hot water. There is a good chance that it can effect the filler material. Inhaling something like that is poison to our lungs. The boiling method is the cleanest and safest way that I know. So, I'm gonna have to go +1 on that.

Hey everybody, does anybody have a good method for reusing a carto with a different flavor? I've heard some people comment bout reverse taryn spinning and boiling the carto and then letting it dry overnight. I was just curious to see what you guys think the best method for reusing consisted of?

Although it's always best to use one carto per flavor (and try new flavors dripped on an atty before you commit a carto) I can suggest a good cleaning method that may help.

Take a turkey baster and pop off the bulb and put your carto in battery side down. Put the bulb back on and in a glass of the hottest tap water you can muster run that baster for a straight minute back and forth up and down. BAM! The carto's running clear. Now take a carto condom with a string on it and give it a good Pete Townshend whirl outside for a quick dry (don't lose it!). Let it dry overnight and you're good to go. Do this every week at a minimum or when the carto loses vapor/flavor and they will last as long as 6 months if they were quality cartos and you keep them topped off (wet). /bow
