I get a laugh everytime I see a CHANTIX commercial on tv, as the warnings of side effects go on and on and on. From their website (emphases mine):

"Some people have had serious side effects while taking CHANTIX to help them quit smoking, including new or worse mental health problems, such as changes in behavior or thinking, aggression, hostility, agitation, depressed mood, or suicidal thoughts or actions. These symptoms happened more often in people who had a history of mental health problems before taking CHANTIX, than in people without a history of mental health problems. Stop taking CHANTIX and call your healthcare provider right away if you, your family, or caregiver notice any of these symptoms. Before taking CHANTIX, tell your healthcare provider if you have ever had depression or mental health problems.

Some people had seizures during treatment with CHANTIX. Most cases happened during the first month of treatment. Tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures. If you have a seizure during treatment with CHANTIX, stop taking CHANTIX and contact your healthcare provider right away.

Decrease the amount of alcohol you drink while taking CHANTIX until you know if CHANTIX affects your ability to tolerate alcohol. Some people experienced increased drunkenness, unusual or sometimes aggressive behavior, or memory loss of events while consuming alcohol during treatment with CHANTIX.

Sleepwalking can happen with CHANTIX, and can sometimes lead to behavior that is harmful to you or other people, or to property. Stop taking CHANTIX and tell your doctor if you start sleepwalking."

Sleepwalking! Cripes and Crimeny.

Gee, I wonder which is the healthier, safer, more effective way to try to quit smoking - CHANTIX or vaping?

Oh, it must be Chantix. I mean, the FDA would NEVER favor bug pharma over the lives of the people, right? Right?

Please leave the bug, it really fits even if it was a typo. :D

The quitline here is starting to give that carp away if you sign up with their program.

Yeh, the quit line here wanted me to take that stuff. This was AFTER I explained that I'm bipolar and have experienced both suicidal and homicidal ideation prior to treatment and all my docs told me I was *not allowed* to do that to myself and society ending with, "If it comes down to it, keep smoking, you will live longer." LOL. Quitline, "But... it's all you haven't tried!"

They did not mention vaping :lol::lol:. How odd.

Most state sponsored quitlines are funded by tobacco blood money. I guess a dead smoker is better than a live vaper, eh?

You forgot "do not operate heavy machinery".
Week 3 I didn't know what day it was and didn't care! Turned my brain to mush. Threw week 4 in the toilet and bought a pack of P-Funks.
3 years later, the vaporizer![emoji106]

I had a similar experience when this crap first came out. It's psych drug, and should only be given out by a
psychiatrist.

I was on Chantix several years back, before there was vaping. I quit smoking for a couple years with it. Personally, I had no significant side affects with it, other than being maybe just a tad more irritable.
Mrs. Rule, on the other hand, also tried it, and she was berserk with it, and had to stop after just a few days.

I tried to quit smoking with Chantix twice before I knew about ecigs/vaping. Neither effort was successful. The crazy, trippy dreams were pretty cool but the extreme irritability and homicidal inclinations were not. Chantix is poison, IMO.

Christ. Yeah, I could see how "homicidal inclinations" might be a bit off-putting.

>_<, Chantix, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Sorry, no real mental problems here, nor a real history of it in my family. My experience with Chantix, was on it for 3 days, sorry but the technicolor nightmares were what made me stop the third day. *Sarcasm Mode Enabled* FDA not putting profits of big pharma over public safety *Sarcasm Mode Disabled*, yeah right. How many TV advertisements have arisen on the TV in the past decade about previously FDA approved drugs that are now in class action lawsuit settlements due to these serious side effects hurting how many people now??? Sorry to sound like I'm knocking our government, but all of the 3 and 4 letter agencies at this present moment are basically a joke and sham IMO, FDA, CDC, don't get me started on what the FBI, NSA, CIA, and ICE are doing and getting caught with their pants around their ankles doing it.

"...aggression, hostility, agitation, depressed mood, or suicidal thoughts or actions."

I get this way when I'm told I'm not allowed to vape somewhere :pervy:
I used to be that way when I watched the news!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that *didn't* go crazy while taking Chantix. I quit for a few years then fell off the wagon when I was Maid of Honor for my smoking sister in law. I had crazy dreams on it (which was a bonus to me) and it sometimes gave me upset tummy but other than that it did what it was supposed to do, all pleasure was stripped from the act of smoking. I wouldn't want to try it again.

I had quit for a couple years. I started again on the morning of 9/11/2001. We were gathered around the radio that someone had in the shop where I was working. I was so shocked at the unfolding of events, I asked one of my work mates for a cigarette. Then another. Then another. I was smoking again that quickly.
