Hi everyone - not to sound too ditzy, but the past couple of days have been really busy and I haven't really been paying too much attention to things. I had originally bought an ego-T kit through HDV but had an issue with a battery and tossed it - so I bought a second kit. So I have two chargers and 3 batteries from the two kits. One of the chargers was giving me a problem so I just tossed it in a drawer and just used the other.
Now, again, it's been busy and of the 3 batteries, one was giving me a problem - it never seemed like it was charging and when I pressed the button it would light but flash. Again, just tossed it to the side and used the others. Well, today, I thought "let me see what's going on with this thing" but instead of using the wall charger part, I used the usb and connected it to my laptop. I start doing dishes, 15 minutes later my husband (the electrician!!) comes home and says "I smell an electrical fire". um, what??? We realize it's the usb connected to my laptop, charging the battery - the smell is AWFUL - I unplug and he carefully touches the part with the green/red light and it's burning hot. We leave it alone, it cools off and I unscrew the battery - press the button, it's still flashing.
So, questions - did the usb/charger fry? Would you use it again? (not through the usb but plugging the usb back into the wall charger)? Was it ok to use the usb on my computer - I mean, that's what it's for, right? I feel like an idiot that this happened. And being I'm not sure what's going with the other charger, I'm worried I may suddenly be down to two batteries and NO chargers (yikes!!) Are all chargers this frustrating???
