Hey Heather,

The eGo has its own charger that does not work with the 510 280mAh mega batteries or the 180mAh regular sized ones. I do not think the 510 car chargers work with the eGo either.

As for the passthrough, it will take the 510 atomizers but the XL ego atomizers will not work with it. Hope that helps:)

Regards,
Tim

I don't understand! are ALL the 510 chargers usable with the Ego...or do you need specific ones for the ego... 510 car charger work with the ego?
What about the 510 pass thru? :?::blink::confused:

It does help quite a bit...and ty... and I know the ego charger doesn't charge the 510 batteries...but does the 510 charger charge the ego batteries?

Yes - I have been using my 510 charger to charge my ego for the last week (I have an ego charger hung up in the mail) - The only problem with using your 510 charger to charge an ego is that it take maybe 3 times as long to charge an ego then a 510 using it - :(

+1 the eGo charger is made for speed, it will fully charge the 650mAh batteries in less than two hours. The 510 ones work as well but it takes looonnnggggg.

I use my 510 pt with the ego mega all the time(looks funny), also use the 510 xl carts with no problems on the 510 pt. My only question is - is it the wall part or the charging adapter that determines which batteries can be use? Ie - if I take my 510 wall charge and plug in the Usb part of my ego charger, then it should charge the ego at the normal ego rate. If I take my ego wall charger and plug in my 510 usb cord, then I should be safe in charging my 510 battery?

do you need an adaptor to connect eGo to 510 AC charger?
I want to get the 10 hole charger for my eGo's & 510s. Seems very convenient. But I'm confused about the adaptor issue.
I just need to confirm if it's really needed.
who sells it ? I see TW has it. Any other?
Yes, you need adapters to connect an eGo battery to the 5/10 mega chargers you can find in TW and Janty. I don't know others.

This is finicky stuff. I went through two sets of genuine Joye charger/wall units for my eGo, and they were both unreliable. Now I use an Apple USB adapter from my iPhone for the wall unit and it works like a charm in under 2 hours. Well worth the $29. Whatcha gonna do? Got two allegedly Apple USB Adapters off Amazon for less and they were clever forgeries that said "designed by Apple in California" and even had matching serial numbers :p and didn't work. The vendor said they were "Apple OEM units". Yeah sure.

If your PC USB port puts out 5V, there is no difference in charging times for the eGo batts, with the native JoyE USB charger. The wall wart is merely an AC/DC converter.

Some wall USB power adapters give low mA's. I saw some at 100mA, 150mA, 500mA, 1A, ... If you use one with less mA's than your USB charger, it will not work properly. The eGo USB chargers need and give 350mA so they should not be used with some wall adapters. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The "true" eGo wall wart puts out 5V and 500mA which is 0.5A which is the same output as your USB port.

Is there any reason you would right off the bat assume I'm mistaken, blind or an idiot and just flat out contradict the factual observations I reported? I can assure you it's been plenty frustrating enough without that.

My wall warts put out more like 5.5 volts, I didn't check the AC content, but charging my eGo batteries with the "Fast Charger" dongles plugged into them, or into the 2 USB ports I tried, takes anywhere from 4-8 hours, yet the same dongles plugged into the Apple USB adapters charge to green in (well) under two hours. I have two sets of everything I'm describing, and they act the same. It all seems to be genuine Joye gear, except of course for the Apple wall USB adapters. Yes, the contacts have been cleaned with isopropanol and cramolin, yes the sockets have been examined for problems, yes the dongles and the wall warts have been opened up and nothing obvious seen. No, I don't know if the batteries fully charge in the shorter time, but they go green and work for several hours of heavy heavy use. The Chinese Apple copies reliably provide 5+ volts but don't work correctly with a iPhone, nor with the Fast Charger dongles (that stay red). I rather believe the Apple USB adapter (that is used with a large range of Apple devices) does double duty as both charger and 5 volt 1 amp USB power supply, and switches mode, depending on the load? It also interacts with e.g. an iPhone in ways I don't understand, as the iPhone sometimes outright complains when I connect the Chinese fakes to it, as in "this accessory does not support ...". How these properties would make the Fast Charger charge so much faster, I don't yet know. I'll be happy to run any tests you might suggest, as I'm puzzled and very curious.
