Charger output

I am always careful to use the power adapter that came with the device...cell phones, comps, etc.
I bought a portable charger to allow for more portability for the ecig battery collection.
The unit has two output connections at 5v...one at 1a and the other at 2.1a. Am I able to switch between the two?
I can't remember the rule for current vs power.

If your speaking in terms of something like the joyetech rapid charger, than either one will work. It only pulls 500mA.

It is hard to believe the label of 2.1 or 1 amp. But, assuming they mean mah, how tolerant are the batteries?
