While my husband has used Riva and kgo chargers interchangeably without any apparent problem, I strongly advise not leaving your batteries on the charger when you go out of the house/when you go to bed, just so that you're awake, alert, and present if there are any problems. While there shouldn't be an issue, it's safer to keep a watchful eye out. I just stick 'em on the charger while I'm cruising ECF or websurfing, watching TV, etc, and occasionally glance over to see if the light's turned green yet. :)

i actually had a charger question too, if i leave the battery on the charger, fully charged, but charger unplugged, does it drain the battery?

I am a total newb to PVs, but I do know a bit about batteries, so I hope I can help here. The charger being connected to the battery shouldn't make a significant difference in how long the battery stays charged. Most of my experience with LiON batteries was with the first gen ones in mobile phones, not the newer LiFePo4 ones that are in use in lots of places today. However, either is going to lose some charge over time. The older style would lose about 5% of it's charge every day or so, and the new ones are probably 5-10% a week or something. So, long story long, if you charge one up and unplug the charger from the wall, it should stay pretty much charged, at least for a reasonable amount of time.

Cool, a battery guru. Let me ask you this: I like to keep a couple of spare kits for future use. (yes, I like my backups!) Is it safe to say the batteries will be ok when I get around to using them? Say, about 6 months from now? They are Riva 510's.
