Yeah that's not the scientific verbiage however I've heard of chargers that will fix a battery that has been drained to low or shorts but not vented and no longer take a charge and, I'm, assuming, it drains it and recharges it and is good to go.
I have heard this from a few different shop owners but I dunno what they are called or what does the job.
I'm currently using an i4 but I've gotten a couple batteries that best I think can be saved by this method
Any info is much appreciated!

Yea they have been around a long time. Use to have them for Nicad batteries. The one I knew of would hit the battery for a brief time with a high charge voltage. As I recall it did not work often and even then they did not last much longer. We called them battery zappers or crash carts. Would not have a clue how to do it on LIon batteries or if it's safe. Hope this was of some use and someone has one they know of for our APV batteries. Got some circling the drain. OH when the told us that LIon batteries do not develop a memory THEY LIED.

This from my Xtar WP2S mini-manual:
"The WP2S uses a soft-start function, to avoid damage from large charging currents when reviving over-discharged batteries."

and in the description of the LED status:
"Red flashing: Over-discharged battery (Voltage >= 1.0v) is being activated."

So it would seem that this one, at least, claims it can handle a low voltage battery. Haven't had to try... :)

So maybe dig up the manual for the charger you have and see if it has similar info.

I currently us Nitecores and i vaguely remember some claims that it would "revive" a battery............My call Tbev would be to chuck the said problem battery(s) and not take a chance with something used so close to the face......plus i also have a sickness in that i am addicted to getting new batteries in the mail:), my 2cents best to you

I've got a Pila that has a button that runs a manual check, it does so automatically too, that also starts a very low level charge that is suppose to revive batteries.

It has helped 2 batteries that were acting poorly out of about a dozen and a half. (I've got a friend who has a tendency to screw up his batteries and he brings them over to see if my gizmo can "fix" them.). If I didn't like the charger, I would say it wasn't worth the money, but that Pila has done a great job for me for many years.
