Yes, the bottom led blinks as it reads the battery. Then the second one blinks while in stage 1 of charging. The third one blinks when its in the second stage of charging.
I have the nitecore i2 charger, and it usually takes about 3-5 hours for my batteries to charge from about 3.6v
My I4 says - .75A with 1-2 batteries, .375A with 3-4 batteries. I'd suspect the same from the D4 but ..........
I've heard that low and slow was "better" for batteries, or maybe that was ribs.
Yeah, that's a bit of a guesstimate. My charger sits on a table across the room from my couch, in my line of site, and I just wait for it to stop blinking.
Unless you get an older I2 or i4. Then the plastic slider grooves that bind.Other than the obvious 2bay, 4bay, the I2 has leds to indicate charge status while the D4 has a digital display. Other than that the cost.
I recommend NOT using a PC usb port. In the event of failure, you could potentially lose a perfectly good computer.Nitecore chargers are intelligent chargers. They stop charging automatically when the batteries are fully charged. I have the UM20 due to the portability of it. I find that a fully depleted batteries will charge within 4-5 hours so, I put my batteries in the charger when I go to bed and they are 100% when I wake up.
I use Efest 35A 2500MaH LI-MN hi drain batteries. Word to the wise though, don't use an Apple usb plug adapter. They get incredibly hot when used with the Nitecore chargers.

Also the 2 bay nitecores charge at .5A for a total of 1A.
The 4 bays charge @ .75A for up to 2 bays or .375A for up to 4 for a total of 1.5A.

I'd rather use dielectric grease (silicone).A quick and easy fix for the 'binding slides' is to lube them with a little vaseline. A q-tip, little vaseline ends the problem.

Also worth notable mention, the QC on the housings are poor. Greasing up my i2 for example wouldn't fix the issue because the housing was molded poorly, flexes and binds.
