Charging batteries overnight

It is not recomended that you leave batties on a charger any longer than needed. It is'nt going to kill a battery if you do leave it over night once and a while. But constant over charging will reduce the life time of your batteries.


Another vote for this response! I second that.

It depends on the battery and the charger. I used to charge those little stock batteries overnight all the time. Now I only use mods. the batteries for those will overcharge if the charger doesn't have a cut off. Using a cheap charger over night on some protected RCR123 batteries I found one with the circuit board popped out in the morning. Won't do that again!

With the Lithium batteries, you should be able to charge them indefinitely with no fear. Li will not "overcharge," and if you notice, 99% of the chargers made for Li bats will actually stop charging at 100% (green light vs red light). I leave mine on their charger 24/7 (in rotations). As they do not have memory (like NiCad), there is no fear of when to charge them either.
