...was awkward because the micro-usb is on the bottom of the device, so while in the garage last night piddling around I found some scrap wood and fixed the problem.

I had some pieces of 1-in x 4-in laying up by my miter saw from a previous project and decided they'd be perfect to throw together a little stand to set it in while charging. I made the first one, and after looking at the Pioneer 4U logo, I realized a 45° piece would fit nicely on the front of it, and somewhat resemble their logo.

Had so much fun, I built a second, different looking one for the office. The place I bought the mini from sent me a sticker, so I thought I'd adorn this one with said sticker, and it's a perfect fit! They are far from showroom quality, but for some scrap pieces of wood, they're gettin' the job done.

Now to figure out something to put kanthal spools on...

Why is this a problem? I don't charge overnight and generally have watched charging with no problems thus far.

Proper battery maintenance you should let the cell rest before charging and then after charging, when charging inside the device chances are you are not doing this. Some will tell you 15 minutes to an hour is enough time, I was taught and follow you let it rest longer (preferably overnight) after removing it from the device and 15 minutes to an hour after charging.

Doing this I have had cheap cells last me well over 2 years even with the extreme temps I had to put them through.
