Charging time for AW IMR18650 1600 mah battery

Thought this would be the right place to post this question. I've got a couple of AW IMR18650 1600mah batteries and i was just wondering how long it usually takes for them to fully charge. I just don't want to over charge them, and also know for future reference.

What is the voltage of the cell before recharging?
What is the age of the cell and how has it been used? Mech/VV?

That's kind of impossible to answer without knowing what charger you will be using and at what charge current, if it's a charger that has multiple current settings.

A good charger wont over charge them. 4.2v is the maximum voltage, people recommend taking them off charge as soon as they are charged, personally I am not OCD about doing that.

I also have a Nitecore. Mine is an i4. I remove the battery's as soon as I see all 3 lights steady on(no longer flashing). Tho, like scote, I am not OCD about it.

Here is what I have experenced with Efest IMR18650 2000 mAh.

Trustfire TR001 about 10 to 14 hours.
Efest LUC about 2 to 3 hours.

The Trustfire will charge to a full 4.2 volts and the LUC stops at 4.18 volts according to my DVM.

Some people will say slower is better but as long as your charge current is less than 80% of the mAh of your battery your good.
In other words it should take longer than 75 minutes no matter what the mAh rating is.

When you hear terms like one C charge rate all that means is the amount of current it takes to charge a battery in 1 hour.

Current wisdom says it's better to stop just short of 4.2 volts with 4.17 to 4.18 being ideal for longest battery life.

Charge time is a function of battery capacity and degree discharged and the effective charge rate of the charger. In general, if you divide the capacity of the battery (In your case, 1600 mAh) by the charge rate (.5A for the Nitecore i2/i4), figure the charger will provide 1500 mAh worth of charge in 3 hours. If you're using a regulated mod, they will never discharge below 3.4v - this means that the "average" charge time will be approximately 2-2.5 hours.

Most 18650 batteries will easily allow you to charge them with 1A current.

1,6/1 = ~1,6 hours at most as you will never fully discharge them.

Using a Efest LUC. Two similar 18650 batteries, fresh bought and quite drained. Took about 2.5 hours at 1.0Amp to charge them up to 4.2 volts. Never been one to worry about overcharging, the charger says it stops charging once the batteries are done and I am willing to trust that lil gadget.
