Dont try to use them to fix your battery if the wire somehow works loose from the center post, found this out the hard way :/ completely trashed my battery after half an hour of trying to fix it with my shakey hands and my crappy soldering iron, lol I really miss my old electronics toolbox, and am Soooooo glad I bought a spare battery

Dude.... You need specific tools, if you have experience you can do it with VERY simple tools too, you just have to remove the center post to avoid burning up the insulator first.
I made 100's of operations on volt batteries but you got to have something to hold your battery, tweezers (need precision tweezers not the ones you plug out eyebrows :D ), flux etc.

What is the damage? What's wrong with it before and after the repair?

I got it fixed now, went out and bought a soldering iron with a decent tip, but before the wire had come loos from the center post, using my $5 soldering iron with it's huge busted tip, I couldn't get the solder to stick and every thing fell apart, and I was melting insulation on the wires more than solder. But like I said I got a decent soldering iron with a decent tip, picked up som small solid core wire from Radio Shack and now have it back together and fully functional :) might have been able to get it together with the crappy soldering iron, but i have really shakey hands and the tip was busted and way too big.

I'm glad I got it fixed though, I get all ansy knowing I only have one battery and a AAA powered box mod I built

Yeah a fine tip does the job, oxidizer tips do suck.
You need also a holder for faster results.
When i do precision work (sometimes my work area is 2x2mm) i need to drink some chamomile tea, it stops the hands from shaking. On the eye doesn't show at all but on the microscope it looks like your hands shake 1 meter back and forth.

Next time use chamomile tea :D

Lol I'll try that, and I used to have holders and any type of tip you could imagine, and a hell of a lot more when I used to do a lot of work with microcontrollers, but at 18 I decided to leave home with nothing, ended up homeless, and left my toolbox at a buss station somewhere cause I couldnt afford another carry on
