Im looking to buy several tanks (5-10) for testing flavors and flavors I vape occasionally. Where can I get the cheapest tanks that are somewhat decent? I usually punch my own cartos so if they sell just the tanks for cheaper that would be great.
So fare I found myvapestore.com has Pro DCTanks for $8.5 and DCTank for $4.50. What's the difference? Can I find.them cheaper somewhere else?
Also, can I use XL boges in the DCTanks or do I need to use cartos with the bottom flanges?
Thanks.
The Smoktech DCT Pro (for polypropylene) are a great, relatively inexpensive way to start a collection of carto tanks. That's how I started my collection and eventually started to also collect pyrex and clearo tanks.
The difference between the two DCT tanks that you were inquiring about basically comes down to the tube material. The cheaper tank uses the clear polycarbonate tube, which is susceptible to some juices being able to crack or melt it. The more expensive tank uses the frosted polypropylene plastic, which is immune to those said juices. My first ever tank was the cheaper version, I ended up throwing it out after a couple of days as the polycarbonate tube warped and leaked juice. I haven't had one issue with the polypropylene tanks.
I got my tanks from MyVaporStore and PBDragon, and yes that is a nice price. You can use the Boge XL cartos in the DCT tanks, and also use single coil Smoktech DCT instead of the dual coils that they come with. I get mine directly from Smoktek with the pre-drilled holes. I also highly recommend that you get the tank accessory tool from Big Daddy Vapor called the Slap Yo Momma. It will cut the time to assemble and fill/refill your tanks in half and also protect your tank's end cap 0-rings from being damaged by the sharp edges on the end of the carto.
You might also look into Smoktek's version of the Vivi Nova, called the Smoktek Titan or Screw Tank. Easy fill, twist off top, and use a replaceable clearomizer head so there's no polyfill to mess with taste or clog. Where the current Vivi tanks use polycarbonate, the Smoktek uses the safer polypropylene.
