One other consideration:

I got into DIY in preparation for when (not if in my mind, but when) states start taxing juice that may increase the price as much as double or more. The savings then will go though the roof. In the meantime, I am happily picking up some store bought I really like and playing around with DIY for a few flavors good enough to add to my daily vape repertoire.
This is my wife for sure. She flat out told me that as long as she can still get her fancy liquids that was fine. 4 years into vaping and she still has not found one that is the end all be all. But in the end it will still be cheaper cause she does not use nearly as much as i do.

I guess I'm kind of a low-level shopaholic, because I like getting small things in the mail, so I realize that there's pretty much always something that I'm going to be spending relatively small sums on. I was into perfume oils (made by others, and making myself), jewelry making (think more "handmade glass beads" than "expensive precious stones") and then for a while I was updating all the cookery / kitchen stuff ... and etc. If it weren't vape mail, I'd be getting special teas, or spices, or art project stuff. Always something. But something small and fun.

But before, I was spending money on cigarettes and on little MailFunBombs, and now I'm satiating my shopping lust (it's not so much the BUYING as in "spending," it's the HUNTING, and the ANTICIPATION, and the OOOH TREATS IN THE MAIL LIFE IS WORTH LIVING YESSS) with vape stuff, so once I calculate money saved from no longer buying cigs plus money no longer spent on other little baubles, I'm still coming out way ahead.

That's my story, and I'm sticking with it. ;)
This cracked me up. I shop more now since i started vaping then ever before. Now i look forward to the mail. Now it is not all just bills. lol

I'd say my one mistake with DIY at the start was the typical one of buying flavors without knowing how I would actually use them. So I do have a little storage bucket with assorted, once used but never again flavors. Once I got my act together and figured out a few recipes I liked, and could use for an ADV, it became far more cost effective.

Same with me. I have about 50 or 60 flavors now and I'm finding out that there are quite a few that I probably won't use again. That's just part of figuring out your own personal likes and dislikes. It's also a reason to buy the smallest bottle the first time. Once you find out that you like it, slide up to the larger sizes.

I guess maybe in the long run diy will be cheaper, but right now I am not seeing it. Lol got my first order in and I kept it small. All the base stuff and enough flavors to make two different recipes. Went well so made a second order the next week. Bumped up the amount of base stuff and added some more flavors to make a few more recipes. On the first round I made this one that I now just can't out down. I already vape way too much liquid in a day. Big reason why I finally broke down and started diy. I was going through 240ml of my adv in about a month and that was not counting the other flavors I used when I am at home. I have already mixed all I can of this new flavor and already need to place another order to replace most of the flavors. Ugh I had promised my wife I would not buy a single vape related item until after the new year. Not sure how this is gonna go. Lol so did not expect to make a liquid that I would fall in love with this quickly.

Vaping (including DIY) can be as expensive or frugal as a person wants it to be. I only buy supplies when on-sale and then I purchase in bulk. 100mg nic for $40 per liter, VG for $13 a gallon, PG for $16 a gallon and those prices include shipping costs. I can mix 10mg unflavored for around $0.007 per ml. The flavorings I know I like are purchased the same way but 4oz at a time. I can mix -any- flavored juice @ 10mg for between $0.01 and $0.02 per ml. I vape NETs and make them @ 10mg for $0.03 per ml. At least once every year all the premium brands of nic, PG, VG and flavorings go on sale for 20 - 40% off, that's the time to buy.

Generally, I average from .50 cents to $1.02 per 30 ml, depending on flavorings and ratios used. To me that's really cheap. I don't buy flavorings based on price. If it's something I want to use, I'll buy it (within reason, Medicine Flower is too rich for my blood). :)

Please keep in mind that Medicine Flower flavors are highly concentrated.

From their website:
Concentrated Flavor:
Consistent comparisons with other products on the market have revealed our flavor potency being over 30-70 times higher (1-5 drops of our flavors equal up to a teaspoon of other flavors).

I ordered (and received and have used) Vanilla, Caramel, Raspberry and Black Cherry. Based on the above, I mixed each of the 5ml vials with 40ml of PG. If I were to compare the diluted strength to TFA flavors, the Medicine Flower is stronger. Comparing to FA flavors they are a little weaker, with the Raspberry being the weakest (but better flavor IMO).

I realize that $10.00 is a lot to spend for something that you may or may not like. However, for me, even if I wouldn't have liked the other 3 (and I really do), the $40.00 spent for the 4 of them was worth the cost just to find the Vanilla. OH MY! HEAVENLY!

Yep, buying in bulk on sale is the way to go! Many Nic suppliers are having 15-30% off sales right now. Some of the retailers of flavorings are having sales, too!

This -is- usually the best time of year to buy supplies. I didn't need any but Bulk Apothecary ran a sale on USP Kosher VG last week, 50lbs (4.7 gallons) for $38. Even with $22 shipping added the total price per gallon would only have been around $13.20, less than most people spend for a single liter shipped. I heard MyFreedomSmokes currently has (or had) a nic sale going that's as good as I've come across ($30 for the first liter, $40 for each additional liter of 100mg) but again I didn't need any, I'm already stocked for life.

did you say 240ml a month?

I'm at around 600, but that's 0-3mg :)
Dang and I thought I was bad. The 240 is my adv or at least the one I did have until I made this new one. I have a couple of other flavors I use at home. One flavor I use on the way to work then my adv then usually a different flavor while watching TV and another to take to bed. Lol I am at 3. Would like to be zero and hoping with diy I will get there. Be able to step it down easier.
