New to DIY, but when I was little I used to make "potions" from whatever I found in the medicine cabinet...I made a itch cure that I swear worked when I was about 7...should have wrote down what i put in it lol. So I think I am going to love DIY juice.

But...a little nervous. I ordered all my stuff from wizard labs and it should be in later today.

What I am wondering is if I just mix up my nic and pg/vg and A flavor (the flavor apprentice apple/candy apple/blueberry/graham/french vanilla [are the flavors I will be working with first]) at 5% (and adjust from there) is that going to render something pretty vapable without any sweetener or other flavors mixed in?

Soon I will try blending flavors but I want to make a decent simple juice first to boost confidence.

In retrospect I probably should have looked up some recipes before ordering and ordered flavors accordingly. But hey, I like to invent stuff.

thanks for any advice.

I usually recommend starting with single flavors when starting out. You'll have to get a feel for mixing and your sense of taste. Blending flavors and adding spice components (I call sweeteners a spice when mixing.) brings a whole new realm into making juice and if you don't understand and have a good feel for them, it can be overwhelming.

Make a few vapable single flavor mixes then visit my DIY blog and move on to the good stuff, you're own recipes...

Single flavor juices are the best way to start out. You'll get a feel for mixing, and a chance to try each flavor on its own. If you don't know what it tastes like by itself, you won't know what it'll mix well with. Start with small 3 or 5 ml batches. You can always mix them together later if you want. I do so when dripping sometimes, 2 drops of this and 1 drop of that. If you find a combo you like, mix it in the same proportions in a single bottle.

5% is very low - just my opinion. I really think youll need to start at least at 10 unless its a super concentrated flavor. But in answer to your question - yes you can easily make a awesome mix with one flavor. French Vanilla is one example. If you add to french vanilla - you dont have french vanilla anymore!!! I have found if i mess up a juice too bad, i just add lots of sweetner and I can vape it then without wasting it. =) Good Luck - youll love making your own creations, its so much fun. Everyone on here is super helpful too!!!

Thanks for the tips and reassurance guys!! I made a 5mL batch of straight apple 80/20 mix. Started with 5 percent flavor and did a quick drip test and only had a hint of flavor, so i bumped up to ten percent and will check it tomorrow. But even unsteeped its decent with a light flavor. Going to try french vanilla straight next. And I have decided I want a few graduated cylinders, right now i have pipets and 3 mL syringes but i think for me a graduated cylinder would be best for measuring once i make larger batches.

I see the convenience of drops with small batches as 1.333333333(repeating) is a trip on a syringe lol. I was always had the best measurements in chem class. Finally something fun to do with all those lab skills.

I've avoided graduated cylinders in favor of larger syringes. With thick VG you'd have a problem with getting it all out of a graduate whereas with a syringe it self-squeegees as you empty it. That's my logic anyway. I keep syringes in 2 ml, 3 ml, 5 ml, 10 ml, and 20 ml. I have needle gauges in 22, 24, 18, and 14. The 14 is used for VG due to the viscosity.
