I purchased a pack of 5 they are ego 510 made by aqua vapor. I use them for my secondary juice wich is mountain dew made by Kentucky blend. it has had a horrible taste from the get go, thats why I feel like im doing something wrong. And I tasted the juice in store in a evod and it was great. I turned my spinner way down to 3.5v and it still burns

Once you get the burnt taste, the carto is probably shot and needs to be thrown away. If you like you can try to clean it and get some more life out of it, but since they're like $2 each anyway, you might as well just toss it. As for filling it, here's what I do: I will drop 5 to 10 drops in at a time, and wait a little bit for it to soak in. While doing this I'll be holding a napkin or paper towel below the carto to catch any juice that falls out the bottom. I fill, wait, fill, wait, and repeat, all the while checking that napkin. As soon as a drop falls out the bottom, I stop, wait a little bit more for everything to soak in/drip out, and then I'll blow through the carto to make sure the center airway is clear. This whole process takes about 30 seconds to a minute depending on the size of the carto (I'm using Smok Mega dual coil cartos at the moment which advertise a 5ml capacity, though it's really closer to 3 or 4). Once you use a particular carto for a while, you will get a sense for how many drops it can hold, how often it needs to be refilled, etc. To prevent the burnt taste, make sure you're using an appropriate voltage/wattage for the given resistance of the carto. Also, waiting too long to refill it can burn the polyfill. Often you can just tell by the taste and the amount of vapor coming out when you need to refill it, but I'll still take my drip tip off and look inside sometimes. If the polyfill looks white and dry everywhere but the center most area of the polyfill, it's time to refill. Hope this helps.

The entire filler in the carto must be wet before it is fired the first time. If voltage is applied before the filler material is saturated the filler will be scorched and will never taste good. The is no remedy but replacement. Some juices will soak in quickly some take a long time. Always fire at lowest voltage the first time and work your way up as it " breaks in". I use a variety of carto's and some take longer than others. A standard 35mm length will possibly take a ml of juice to saturate it. Hope you get it working like you want.

Properly filling a quality cartomizer can provide you with one of the best vapes you can get. I suggest getting brand name cartomizers like genuine Boge, Ikenvape, or Smoktech (Smok) cartomizers. I recommend using single coil over dual coils. For single voltage battery devices choose a LR (low resistance) cartomizer. For a variable voltage battery device choose a SR (standard resistance) cartomizer.

When I fill my cartos, I place a wooden toothpic in the center air hole to keep unwanted juice out of the tube. I use the "drip & flick" method when adding the juice. Add drops until the wick looks soaked, then I flick it toward the ground like you would with the old time mercury thermometers; this forces the juice down into the bottom of the cartomizer making filling faster. Then I add more juice, and flick it some more. Repeat this until finally the wick will hold no more juice. The wick will look like a slushy drink, with no pooling of juice on top. Remove the toothpic and add your drip tip mouthpiece. Ready to vape.

I'll add that I don't "count drops". Different size drip bottles make different size drops which can throw you way off in the final amount of liquid added to the carto.

You will need to "top off" the carto with additional liquid in order to not allow the wick to get dry and allow the coil to burn it. Just when to do this will come from experience.
