so today i smoked. i was at work and i saw this homeless guy that i see all the time. he offered me a cigarette because im always nice to him. i didnt have the heart to refuse so we talked and smoked for awhile.

i dont really consider that cheating. i didnt want to smoke it. it would only be cheating if i wanted it, right?

That's a kind gesture; I wish there were more folks like you in the world. You treated him with dignity, as a equal. The poor man probably doesn't get that from many people. Buying him a pack is also a great gesture. God bless you! I imagine it would be difficult for the homeless to find ways to charge ecigs, and the disposables are more than analogs now.

It's cheating; a rose by any other name. Sorry. Get back on the horse if you want. I have many homeless peeps I help out along my way. I would never take anything from them let alone something I would put into my mouth. No offense but....

Maybe it's just me but if I smoked half an anaolg I may as well go buy a carton...it's a done deal...

Good Luck--

I haven't smoked since June 25 2013 and what I'm wondering is if you enjoyed it? Not trying to rub it in, just many ex smokers after vaping for a while don't think it tastes good. Actually many say it's terrible.

I was the guy who smoked his face off all the time from morning till night. Just curious how long you have quit and if it tasted great?

I would have just whipped out my ecig and vaped with the guy while he smoked. My wife still smokes and it doesn't really even bother me as much as I thought it would. I never liked her cigarettes though (Benson and Hedges lights). If I ran out and borrowed one of hers I would cut the filter in half to be able to smoke it. I used Camel 99's.

Don't beat yourself up.
Maybe every 3-4 months i'll take a couple of puffs on a cigarette when i'm in the company of smokers. It's like a test.
I've been vaping for two years and in that time have probably smoked the equivalent of two cigarettes.
What surprises me is that you didn't mention how it tasted. I can confirm that yesterday i had one puff of a stinky and the taste was like a lizard had .... in my mouth. I felt as though i stank for a good hour afterwards..... :(

I smoked for over 40 years and was a 3 PAD smoker when I started vaping. I live in a home full of smokers (tried to get them to vape but they are subborn). I still smoke one of my wifes cigarettes every once in a while, but don't consider that cheating at all.

Now if I smoked one of my wifes cigarettes and then wnet and bought a pack, that wouyld be cheating...:)

Don't beat yourself up....If you didn't have any desire to go back to them, consider it a shared moment between two friends.

I bummed 2 from my boss the day my brother passed away last month. They tasted like garbage and I had no desire to go back to them at all. Just an old familiar comfort that I thought I needed. I'm 4 years moke free and still consider it so.

For the homeless guy to offer you a cigarette shows that you are indeed a sir and a gentleman. I imagine that one cigarette means a lot to the guy, and he was willing to offer it to you.

Secondly, you accepted it. THAT, in my opinion, is really thoughtful. If you had declined and taken out your mod and said you don't smoke anymore, I wouldn't be impressed, even if you had stayed to chat with him. I imagine he would have thought that his cigarettes are not good enough for you. (maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't.)

Sir, I salute you for doing what you did. That one cigarette you smoked must have made the guy's day. Well done!

I would have had a vape while chatting with him instead ... I might even help set him up with a starter kit if he wanted.

Dude has enough on his plate just trying to get by.

I had the same first reaction but the guy offered him a cigarette when he has pretty much nothing of his own. That is a pretty huge gesture and one that, to me, would be hard to turn down since I'm a wimp and wouldn't want to hurt his feelings. That's why I suggested the unopened pack as a return gesture. The starter kit is wonderful but where is he going to plug it in? He may well have a place, I don't know. Maybe samturdo can get them charged for him in his office and quickly returned. I'm sure samturdo will learn how to handle those situations once he's been off cigarettes longer. Not bawling you out Willie, just a different point of view.
