I have a Micronta Digital multimeter, an older unit that I no longer have instructions for. The two ohm settings are indicated by "->/-" and "kohm". Which of these two do you use to check resistance with? The first one I get a 0 reading when touching the + and - probe together, but don't get a reading when checking resistance. The second setting, I get a 1.6 reading when touching the probes together. I get a 4.0 reading on the carto here. I assume that the KOHM setting is the one to use. I just need to subtract the 1.6 from the 4.0 to get resistance, altho that gives a 2.4 resistance, which I don't think is correct for a regular carto. The carto I am checking is a regular 808 carto. Thanks.

Op, I don't know much about 808's but googling, I see the resistance can be purchased from 2.6 to 3.1 ohms. The two ohm scale would be too low to see a reading so you would have to use the kohm scale. Touching the leads together should show zero ohms. Check your leads and connections while the leads are shorted together. Wiggle each part of the leads and see if the reading changes. Perhaps you have a problem with a lead or connection. Don't use your finger tips to short the ends of the leads together as this will give you a reading.
