Hey all, I'm gonna assume this is the right place for this thread, as it's related to coil builds. So, I recently (3 weeks ago) hopped on the mech mod bandwagon (lol). I have a Hades mod, along with the matching Hades rda. Anyway, what I'm asking is whether or not my old Vamo V5 would be suitable to check the resistance of my coil builds (apparently you can still check the ohms even though it reads out as low load). I tried it earlier today, and it read my coil build at .4 ohms. However, when I use a multimeter it reads at about .8 ohms. but the issue is that the numbers keep jumping around in an extreme way. I'm aware multimeters (the one I have is a Fluke) are supposedly very accurate, but it's a pain to get the leads contacted for the most part.

Anyone here have any experience with it? It'd be great to simply use my Vamo to check the ohms, but if it's really not that accurate, I suppose I'll grab a stand alone ohms reader (and if anyone has reccemendations on decently priced ones, that'd be appreciated).

Thanks!
Tom

I use my Vamo 5 ( had it for over a year) for checking resistance. It seems to work just fine. Remember with a DMM you need to check the resistance of your leads. Set it to ohms and touch the leads together and you will get the resistance of your leads. On my fluke the leads have a reistance of 0.3-0.4 ohms. Subtract that number from whatever you are checking. If my leads have a resistance of 0.3 ohms and when I check my atty the resistance is 1.3 ohms the actual coil resistance is 1 ohm. This seems to jive with what my mods show as the reistance. I hope this makes sense. Also when I check my resistance with my DMM i find it easy just to put the probes right at the screws that catch my wire. Seems to be pretty stable that way.
