Because vaping is so new in Oz no-one really knows what to do in regards to the No Smoking laws, am I the only one who walks into Westfield and think "well I'm not smoking... *puff puff*". I vape on the monthly train ride to the central coast. Have you ever been caught vaping where you "shouldn't" come and share your stories.

I'll start; I was out in Sydney with my brother in law drinking in a pub "Cheers" I whipped out my Ego-T and puffed away without giving it a second thought after about half an hour of taking a puff and putting back in my pocket the manager came over to tell me I can't smoke in the pub I, at this point didn't want to walk upstairs and go outside every time, so I casually said that I wasn't, he gave me a look of "I saw you buddy" I then pulled out my PV and said "but I'm not" and unscrewed the atomiser from the battery and pressed the power button. The manger then asked what it was and I, skirted around the 100% truth and said "it's an inhaler" he looked at me puzzled said "oh okay... Sorry to interrupt" then let me vape for the rest of the evening :)

I've been "seen" a bunch of times but never confronted, except for once.. but it was just a security guard who saw me do a "hand to mouth" motion in the security camera. It was more of a "you're not smoking are you?" and my reply "no", passing comment than an actual confrontation. In all other cases people just give me "looks" when I accidentally puff out a bigger than normal cloud of vapour. I am generally fairly discreet but continue to vape in places where smoking is not allowed.. I know that no one can smell it, other than a faint whiff of sweetness or incense-like fragrance, so there's no real harm..

My local Gloria Jeans is "Vape Friendly"

I explained it to the Store Franchise owner when I first got mine, now I dont have to sit out in the cold to smoke/vape.

Obviously, I am still a little discreet and not blowing clouds of vapour everywhere. But all the same, it is accepted.

It's bloody hard to be discreet with a piping hot coffee as it gives all your vapour extra trails!!!

Haha nice! For when I'm somewhere where I really shouldn't be Vaping e.g. Hospitals and such, I actually use the Double Breath method light mentioned in one of his videos, works wonders, I've also been confronted on the trains by the Transit Officers and they were more than happy to leave me alone about it, except one guy across from me thought that meant he could smoke an analog so he asked "so I can smoke on the train?" then got annoyed when they told him no, he was quite childlike actually with his response, "but he gets to" so I just used the inhaler excuse and he went back to his newspaper.

I find a takeaway coffee lid fixes that and turning your head away from the coffee seals the deal.

I don't have to blow clouds of vapour every time and I certainly don't want any complaints that could ruin the good deal that I have and force me outside.

Although I would likely save money and just not go there at all in that instance.

Always good to be as respectful and polite as possible if you get approached in somewhere where you 'shouldn't be smoking' It gives a good impression of vapers, and if you explain it to them calmly they might even want to know more for themselves or a friend who wants to give up the analogs.

"it's an inhaler" Sounds like a pretty good explanation if you don't want to deal with explaining the whole thing to them :) The worst is when people get irate and throw a hissy fit if someone asks them to stop vaping in a shop or wherever.

If I want to vape somewhere and it's obvious that someone will pick up on it and have a negative response, I'll usually ask first. Haven't been told no yet ;)

I recently got a friend of mine onto ecigs. He loves them just as much as I do. The other day he told me he was in the train Vaping on his ego, when the cops came in the carriage and saw clouds of vapour coming from him. They ran down and said" No smoking in the train" he said its not a cigarette its a fake cigarette, its a vapouriser. They just said OK and walked off. I doubt they had ever seen one before. Excellent I thought.

Personally I generally avoid being obvious. The way I look at it is this: it is easier for vaping to be banned alongside smoking, than for staff or security to have to check with every person whether it's a cigarette or PV. If we openly vape where smoking is banned, I suspect vaping will be banned too. For this reason, I do not usually vape in restaurants, bars, shops or anywhere there are no smoking signs.
Not only that, it does make a smell, especially menthol juices, so I personally think one ought to be prepared to respect others' complaints if vaping where smoking is banned.

One exception I made to my rule is when I vaped in hospital, in a public ward. I knew I was going to be in there for 3-4 days, so I explained the e-cig as a nicotine inhaler to the doctor on admission. I mostly vaped outside during the day, but at night I discreetly vaped in my cubicle with the curtain drawn. On my final day though, a nurse asked me about it, as it was noted as 'medication' in my chart. So I showed her & the others in the room. Most were amazed and thought it was great, but I will never forget the look on the face of the lady opposite me who had terminal lung cancer.

In Tasmania, I don't think there are that many vapers anyway, so vaping is so unexpected that people don't know how to react

I have vaped in taxi's - after asking first of course and one driver even refused to take my money and let me leave until i had given all info i could on where to get a kit and of course the link to this forum, also vaped in hospital specialist waiting rooms and emergency as well as in the waiting room of my last Dr. Will test out the new Dr's rooms soon and post update. a couple of small local shops are also cool with my vaping.. oh yeah i live in Bundaberg QLD..

I broke my own rules a couple of weeks ago. Went out to dinner at a pub after a sporting event, we had a reserved room upstairs. Place was packed - there was no way I was going to try to push my way out & downstairs every time I wanted to vape. Fortunately no-one objected to my vaping at the table (I didn't do it while people were eating either). A couple of people were fascinated, another plainly amused, the rest just not bothered.
