I am on a serious time crunch and a total noob to this site and the internet, so please forgive any mistakes I make. I have a real problem with the e-cig I am smoking. I started off with a blu disposable e-cig from walgreens. I liked it alot and stopped smoking the real ones at once, so I ordered the premium 100 blu e-cig with alot of cartridges in tobacco flavor. When I first put one in, its perfection to me and it just like the real thing. After about 50 puffs the taste turns into a horrific chemical taste and I have to throw it away. which is like throwing away 75% off the cartridge and a waste of money. I have tried to look up the number one e-cig online and get to many number 1 spots. I do see v2 being a good one. Anyway does anyone have this problem? A way to fix it, return it, or try a new brand. I love the flavor and the inhale throat feeling but the bitter chemical tatse after 50 puffs is scary bad tasting. After 20 years of smoking I quit, but only to have a problem. Help anyone?

Switch to a better e-cig. Those super mini's like the Blu are some of the worst you can get. Granted some people like them. But those people are silly. :D

It you absolutely need something that looks like a cigarette get a volt or a vapor4life kit.
If you want good battery life and a good hit, get an eGo from Altsmoke or Liberty-Flights or someplace like that.

Oh and welcome to ECF and congrats on quiting. Vaping is great and you're going to love it once you get into a real e-cig. :)

There were tests done on prefilled cartomizers and most, if not all are from china and usually filled 30-40%. First I suggest trying to refill them before you throw them out. second I suggest you invest in a 3.7 volt or variable volt device. Start off direct dripping with a quality de-briged atty (ikenvape, avid vaper) and find what you like from there. :)

50 puffs is dead on for that setup. Advertising that says you get 300 puffs or something is 'not strictly accurate' :)

You can maybe get some more liquid in them, for a few more puffs, but it's best to DIY refill them. Don't vape them down to the burn, they are toast then. You could get 5 or more refills out of a carto.

Welcome and thank yourself for taking the first step. Do not feel bad in any way for any perceived mistakes you think you might make or will make. We were all in your shoes at one point or another.

My take on your issue is that your cartridges, sometimes referred to as carts, are going dry and you taste the burned wick, it happened to me. Keep it wet and filled, you can get some juice and refill them. You are in a learning stage, you will make mistakes, and you will overcome that and thank yourself many times over for persevering. Your family will benefit. Read up on the stickies at the top of the page, New Members Forum, to better understand the gear and options. It seems overwhelming but just take it one step at a time. If you get stuck ask for help without guilt or shame of any kind.

There is no number 1 magic ecig. We will all tell you that. What works for one might not work for another. There are plenty of good ecigs that will undoubtedly be suggested. The important thing for me was that I understand my gear first and foremost and from there it became easier and more enjoyable.

We understand, we went through it too, everyone of us at some level or another. Just keep at it, be gentle on yourself.

I wouldn't recommend getting another mini if you aren't happy with the first two. You can only get so much out of a small battery.

You can get an ego from Liberty Flights for $30. The carto kit for $35.

Order some juice... cartomizers need to be topped up frequently. There are many vendors online with many flavors to choose from.

May be they weren't full to begin with. Don't keep vaping the ones that taste burnt... they will only get worse, and may burn the poly filling(at that point, they are toast). They are drying out.

Hi, Wynne, and welcome.

I'm going to second the opinion that the chemical horror you taste is simply the taste of a dry cartomizer. Yeah, it tastes real bad. :) It's probably not too healthy either, so try to catch it before it gets to that point: when the taste changes and/or the vapor becomes weak, stop - it's time to refill. 50 puffs is about right for what you are using, I think. I know they advertise different, but, well, it's just not so. So you are not wasting juice, just cartomizers. :) You need to learn to refill them with your own juice - there are lots of videos on youtube, posts on this forum, etc - just do a search, you are sure to find something. Personally, I recommend the syringe method, but everyone has their favorites.

As for a better e-cig... First ask yourself if the e-cig looking and functioning exactly (more or less) like a "real" cig is important to you. If it is, you can't beat some version of KR808D-1, like Volt, for instance.

If you don't care about the "ciggy" look and feel, then I seriously suggest you skip the rigmarole and get a ProVari. You'll probably end up there anyway, and will spend more money on the way there... If you are not ready for that, go with an eGo, and spend some time trying out different cartomizers and juices, like we all did and still do. Have fun. Eventually you'll find your "sweet spot".

Add juice BEFORE you singe them. And ignore the lies of of glitzy web sites when they claim a carto lasts as long as a pack of smokes. (or I think Blu claims 1.5 packs????)

If you want something small and a bit better - Joye 510 MANUAL (the 510 manuals are sealed on the threaded end and can't be killed or damaged by carto leaks, and manuals make it easier to get a good hit.) Your Blu cartos will fit and you can use blank 2.5 to 3 ohm 510 cartos (Boge are most popular) and put in any juice you want (thin juices work best - I use 80PG/20VG). The 510 has about double the charge of Blu (180mah vs 90 mah - so still not much charge but more than Blu). Just never ever try to charge 510 on a Blu charger or vice versa - Blu is reverse polarity and its charger will fry a 510 and vice versa. But cartomizers don't care.

LitCigUSA.net should have manual Joye 510 kits and get a drip tip (you can drip on the atomizer to test juices since the battery is sealed) or use the atomizer cartridges. And for your main juices use cartomizers. but there are few prefilled cartos for 510.

And there is a nice PCC for the 180mah 510 here (and it's designed to accept manuals)

I have a Blu also, and love the taste of the new cartos, but was getting a short life out of them also ..... you could return your Blu for the refund, buy some 510 set-up like an Ego, and still use your remaining Blu cartos ..... I have put them on an eGo and they seem to do alot better and last longer. (don't know why, but it seems that way to me) At least you don't lose $$ on the cartos since I don't think Blu will refund you those.

** Oh, and I like those disposable ones from Walgreens (mint) so I keep a couple, 1 in my car, for emergencies :)

I used the blus for a while and liked them a lot. I would refill them with my own juice to make them last longer. The juice that is used in their classic tabacco flavor is 'johnson creek' domestic flavor from, i think, the red oak line. From my experience the problem is that johnson creek ejuice doesn't play well with cartos. It kills them fast so refilling them with JC juice is only adding salt to the wound.

Its a shame because they have a product with a lot of potential that they just didn't execute very well. I will echo everyone else in this thread that suggests the Smokeless image Volt if you must have a cigarette style ecig. That is what I use now when I go to restaurants and other public places.
