I purchased my e-cig on NY Eve 2010. The company is Smoke Free, and I'm using the Cartomizer tobacco cartridges.
Prior to this purchase, I was smoking 15-20 cigs/day. I've now cut down to 7 or less/day. This is great, however, since starting the e-cig, I've noticed that I have slight chest pain/heavy feeling in the chest on the right side. The feeling starts after I've smoked from my e-cig or from a regular cig, and goes away within a half hour after I'm finished smoking.

I haven't seen this side effect on the forums, and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or may know anything about it.

Thank you!

Ive just recently started vaping and I have noticed slight chest pains after I have a analog ciggy, but thats been going on for a while for me, but not after using my e-cig....I feel fine. Probably just getting the pains cause we have smoked so long and taken a toll on our lungs. If I was you, if this continues or gets worse you may want to see a doctor. Hope you feel better!

Honestly you should see your doctor for this one. It could be any number of illnesses none of which should be taken lightly. If related to smoking at all it could be from either your lungs healing after cutting back from being such a heavy smoker, and may be accompanied by the "smoker's cough". It could also be that maybe your carts are too dry.
I had some chest pain, coughing, as well and I quit a couple days after you did. I smoked anywhere from a pack to halfpack/day.
Again tho, to be on the safe side you really should see your doctor if it lasts any longer.

What nicotine level? How many cartomizers per day? And what kind of cigs do you smoke?

Could be too much nicotine which can have many symptoms including headache, dizziness, rapid heartbeat

Could also be too much PG for you - there are two bases for eliquids - PG and VG. PG is thinner, lets through more TH, harsher. VG is thicker, smoother, dampens TH, adds more visible vapor. When you fill your own carts or cartos you can choose liquids that are a mix - I like 70pg/30vg. 100% PG irritates my tongue and throat, and for some others it even seems to irritate their lungs (it lets through all of the TH from the nicotine and doesn't smooth it at all.

BTW Smoke Free is a huge ripoff - worst I have seen. $55 for a battery??? Batteries should be $12-15, maybe $18 for a fancy color. No idea what model it really is. If the male threads are on the carto then it may be an RN4081. If the male threads are on the battery then it may be an E9 aka KR808D-2 (a popular rebrander model) or a popular model here KR808D-1 (threads on KR808D-2 are incompatible with KR808D-1)

Something rebranders like Smoke Free often do is
a. not sell blank cartos (or carts if a 3-piece model)
b. sell filled ones designed to be more difficult to refill (hard cap on the mouth end or even hard glued cap)

I got that too at first, when I got the e-cig tho I just went from 10 cigs a day to nothing.

It passed with time, I figure it was just a reaction from my lungs starting clear out the cig gunk. Switched to strictly VG too and that seemed to help. Try drinking gallons of water a day might help sort it out, cant hurt.

However if it sticks around for more than a week or gets worse, I'd seriously consider talking to a doctor about it.

if it is the right side of your chest, then it sounds a little strange. but if it is the left side of your chest, it is symptomatic of early cardio-vascular disease. i would recommend 6g Vitamin C and 6g Lysine per day (research Pauling Therapy). it works in a day, but it's something people concerned with CVD should do every day for the rest of their life. CVD is the #1 cause of death. it's a really a Vitamin C deficiency (all animals make 5-10g of Vitamin C/day except higher level primates, guinea pigs, and fruit bats). anyway, it can reverse CVD, but no doctor can do it, they will just make you worse off.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you have no medical training whatsoever. If that's true, please keep your medical advice to yourself. This was worse than useless, it was dangerous. These symptoms could be an easily treatable infection, or early warnings signs of a serious problem. Telling someone to take a magic pill and don't see a doctor because "they will just make you worse off" is irresponsible.

Please go and see your doctor immediately. Relying on any kind of medical "advice" in the forums is plain dangerous. Switching to ecigarettes will not necessarily lower your cardiovascular risks. You might have a nicotine overdose, trouble dealing with PG, or early warning signs for heart problems. All of these must be checked out; if at all possible, try to pause both ecigarettes and cigarettes till you had a chance to talk with your doctor.

Could be just the cartos. There are many threads in this forum which discuss the burning of the filler. I remember getting chest pains and a queasy stomach many times while smoking cartos. Since sticking to my atomizer the only time i felt any discomfort (queasy stomach and muscle cramps) was when vaping alot (especially when hardly eating) and not drinking enough water.

I'm sure your intentions were meant well, but this is just plain wrong of you to take on any type of roll suggesting your diagnosis and treatment are something this OP should follow. You could be "dead" wrong in suggesting this to anyone, especially when you state a physician's treatment could make someone worse off. I'm with ScottinSoCal...totally irresponsible!

Although some of us may have encountered something "similar" please have a Dr. check you out. No one here can diagnois what is really happening. Suggestions of lower nic and lots of water are good but may not be your problem if there are any underlying health issues that smoking may have caused over the years.

Let us know how you are doing.

left side pain could be angina, high blood pressure, or even acid reflux. i had sharp stabbing with a pencil pains on my left side a few years ago. i think it was a combination of stress, lack of sleep, acid, high blood pressure, angina, and smoking. i quit for a year and no more pain. absolutely no pain or pressure from ecigs at all. the most i got was a slight sore throat the first day or two but my body adjusted/adapted quickly to the ecig. no right side issues at all though...

I had this when I started vaping a year ago and I even had mouth burn with it but everything turned to normal. For me, it's just getting used to ecig. Now it's the other way around, I'm having chest pains when I smoke analogs because batteries don't last a day with me. It's like smoking or the first time. I just bring spare batteries this time and avoid smoking analogs. Would you please share what the doctor said so we can all learn from this? Thanks in advance
