I have a Chi clone from HCigar. I've had it for about 2 1/2 months. This morning when I was vaping it was getting hot in a small area on the bottom tube, only while the switch is pressed. I took it totally apart and cleaned it with alcohol and it's still doing it ? It doesn't matter what RDA I put on it, I tried 3 different ones ...my Omega clone with a single coil at 1.2ohm....a Trident V2 clone with a dual coil at .38ohm and a Tobh clone with dual coils at .4ohm I only have Sony 30amp VTC4 or VTC5 batteries.

I just ordered 2 new mods, but it will be a couple of days before I get them. ANY help would be appreciated !!

First thing to do is check for shorts in your atties. The short may not be occurring until the atty is placed on the tube. Shorts will cause high currents to flow through your switch causing heating. Check your atomizers with an ohmmeter to make sure.

Second, clean your switch thoroughly. Dirty switch contact areas, even down inside the switch meaning you have to disassemble it, will cause heating of the switch area. If dirt in the switch causes 0.1 ohm resistance, and your device is 0.4 ohms, this would mean that 20 percent of your power is being dissipated in the switch and will cause heating. Even anodizing/coating on the tube and switch parts will add extra resistance.

Two options to see if this helps:
1. upgrade your springs to magnets...
or
2. Go to hardware stare, ask where there are springs, look for copper one, measure and cut, throw might harder on it
or
3. This is where BCV mods buy their springs: McMaster-Carr

I just tried the magnets, now the ring around the switch is getting hot.

There has to be a short in the firing button, I'm running right now...HCigar Chi you 4 Seasons with IGO-W dual coil .78 (VCT 5 battery)..doesn't even close to getting hot. I assume the edges of the battery wrap isn't torn where it's touching mod?

Maybe uploading some pics might help.

Batteries are in good shape, tried 3 different ones......1 is brand new. I took it apart to take the magnets out and put the spring back in, and it hasn't done it since I did ? I just don't like taking chances with stuff like this.

Thanks for all your help !!

Glad things workout for you bro, I've heard similar cases with magnets causing shorts in other mods..but I swear to you I'm using magnets from FatDaddy vapes in my Chi You and I have no issues..too bad it can't fix ....y firing button loosen up all the time.

Now a days if I can make spring work, I'll try it. I got a Fasttech Tree mod (excellent mod except cheap .... spring it came with). I was thinking no way I'm going to use that spring....so instead looking for magnets, I took out my HCigar Nemesis spring put in there...hits good enough for me....I don't plan on super sub-ohm (below .5)...so I should be good. My Infinite Brass King 2014 mod works good enough for me with the springs also.
