Hi everybody. I've been vaping almost a year.

Been using mechs almost exclusively since January.

I have a hcigar Stainless steel Nemesis clone (w/ beauty ring), with a Taifun GT clone on top with a 1.1 microcoil w/ cotton.

Lately I'm noticing a small area on the mod around the beauty ring that's getting hot when firing, but I don't think it happens all the time.

Also I might be crazy but I think I'm getting a bit of a burnt taste when I feel that hot spot.

I thought it might need a good cleaning, which I did but it's still happening.

What's causing this and what can I do about it?

Is it a short in the coil, or mod? Or topper? Hot spot on coil?

Thanks for your replies.

sounds like the mod to me, if you're using flat tops you might want to try it without the beauty ring as when i use mine it makes it so the battery makes poor contact.

One... it's just normal heat transfer from the atty to the top of the mod. Two... you have a poor continuity issue at the 510 or the contact to battery. Clean and adjust all contacts and retest. A pencil or ink eraser works well for removing tarnish/corrosion from battery contacts.

Confirm your resistance independently, using either a build box/ohm meter or a digital muliti-meter (DMM). You don't mention battery type/quality. If it's an off brand battery, or a poor clone of a good brand battery, you may have internal resistance issues.

The "burnt taste" can be burning of the wick. Re-wick it, using preferred and desirable Taifun GT juice feed adjustment techniques... making sure the wick has good capillary action and is being well saturated.
