So my wife and I go to a Chinese restaurant she loves and I hate. Now, I like Chinese food alright, just not this particular place. We've been there maybe a dozen times in the last 2 years, only because she wants to go and I just go along and keep my mouth shut. So we are in there yesterday, and the food was friggen awesome! So at first I'm thinking maybe new staff, new management, something, and I ask and they tell me it's all the same people who have always been there. They haven't changed suppliers or recipes. So then I start thinking that maybe it's the vaping? I've been completely analog free near two weeks now. Could it be that the change is happening that fast? Anyone else experience such a dramatic and sudden change in their taste buds? :?:

Thats funny to me because yesterday my wife came home from work and it being friday she wants to have a few drinks after work. But before we go to Happy Hour she needs to add a little make-up and make a few new curls in her hair. So my sense of smell has suffered so badly over the last 30 plus years that I don't smell or notice anything. Yesterday I am on my recliner downstairs and she is upstairs doing all this and for the first time I can smell hair spray and not be standing right next to her. It smelt awful but it was very cool...!!! The things we've and deprived ourselves of over the years. I can't wait for better tasting food - already have the taste buds become more aware.

Analog free 2 weeks yesterday!!! Have noticed the same thing, like a whole new world out there!! Some good, others way bad!!!

Walked out of an airport yesterday and through a crowd of smokers, nearly got ill!!! I just did not realize they smelt that bad!!

OTOH - I am getting the word out to my friends in Alabama to vote no on SB197 & SB198!!!

1 thing that you shouldnt be to in a hurry to get back is the sense of smell;

Cologne,perfumes,car exhausts,gas fumes,diesel and such.

On the other hand, cant wait to do my 1st bike ride in the mountains and countryside this spring when everything will be blossoming!!!

Slow speed ahead,visor lifted!

I have always loved onions and garlic . . . that is until about 2 weeks of being analog free! Still "like" them, but can't handle the amount I've been so used to for so many years. I've had to adjust many recipes and overall cooking habits, including salt use. Flavors and aromas definitely became enhanced. I've found I don't care for soft drinks nearly as much, so if you have stock in Pepsi, sorry! I also tie up the garbage and get it out to the can more often. I've been surprised that this isn't anything I've ever heard others mention before when quitting. The stink of smoking and ashtrays, yes, but no one ever mentioned the rest. I guess that could explain why so many quitters gain weight, other than giving up the hand to mouth habit of smoking.
Congratulations!! And enjoy your newly revived senses!!

Exactly! Me too! I do most of the cooking in my house and tend to season according to some tastebuds that I no longer have - they CHANGED.

Its Ok though because I love cooking.

+1 True That!!!

Even as a smoker there were certain smells that turned my stomach instantly and violently...Rubbish bins, rotting food, other people's body odors, etc.

Now that my sense of smell has returned I'm noticing all sorts of subtle nuances and complexities within these fragrances that I'd rather have remained unaware of. ugh.

It was around the 2 week mark for me. I smoked analogs for 30 years but quit cold turkey when I found e-cigs. I didn't notice it as much at home, but when I went out.. WOW! I could smell other people's perfume and cologne for the first time in forever and I "love" eating out again, when before it was kinda blah and boring. I'm amazed as a little kid with new tastes and smells! ENJOY!!

This is so crazy because i have never noticed a change in taste at all!

----

Ditto, I didn't notice anything with my sense of smell or taste either. I still like the smell of a burning cigarette from afar, but will say the lingering smell of a smoker is more noticeable and unpleasant.
