Ok, PIF family, Dawn @ Diy Flavorshack has asked for prayers for her sister who is battling cancer. Dawn has been such a kind & giving soul over the years I've been here and it's time to show her we care.

All I ask is that you not look at this as a typical contest, even though once again giving of herself for the thoughts and prayers;

It is going to be

and 80 deg today and tomorrow before going back down into the 50's for a few days. I decided to do a herb garden this year on my deck. Also Lavender and Lemon Verbina. I want to sit on my porch swing and smell all kinds of smells then be able to dry them and have them in the house.

Cement mixer's gonna take some time. I ordered it, got the shipping email quickly, just checked yesterday -- it had gone to back order, they canceled my order without sending me any message, but had charged my credit card. Supposed to have a new order in the system, should see a refund on the initial charge in a couple days, but a PITA.

On the plus side, I just ordered a little Ariens lawn tractor from HD, free home delivery and they accepted a Lowes 10% off coupon code :) The lawn at the new place is too large to muck with a small mower, 42" rider is a perfect size, and the mower has a good rep. I ordered the mulch kit and went to Amazon for deck wheels. (Ordering the rider means I need to make new doors for the storage shed -- the current ones open up and down, are massively heavy, no counterbalance, no way DW could manage them safely. I'll keep the bottom door, permanently open, serves as a ramp, then fab a pair of normal side opening doors out of deck boards and PT 2x4. Yay, another project :) )

Eventually I'll get to pictures -- right now I'm pretty focused on the work projects I have going there, literally don't even think of photos.

Enjoying this streak of beautiful weather :)

Got the water turned on at camp yesterday, chlorine shocked it, UV filter running fine, after fixing a couple leaks in the pre-existing pipes. I still have a couple really tiny, slow, drips, in the new fittings, but those are fine to work on over time -- the new pump/tank/filter box is all pressure treated, deck boards for the floor in it, easy access.

Today's work should be building the new pair of doors for the utility shed, where the mower will go when it arrives. Picking up a few new circular and reciprocating saw blades, then rip the old upper door out, remove/replace door jambs, fab the new pair of doors (I water treated all the boards for them yesterday). The door coming out is a behemoth -- looks like 2x frame, 2 sheets of 3/4 plywood, plus metal face. I'll probably rip off the metal face, then saw it apart, chunk by chunk, to keep things manageable.

Shed doors came out nice, went to painting the interior with a cold galvanizing compound after wire brushing it, putting in a couple pairs of shelved.

Zapped by a pretty nasty bug, started last Thursday night. Night sweats, chills congested, horrible sore throat. Saw the doctor today, started antibiotics, taking today and tomorrow as sick days. I can function doing the camp projects, no heavy work, don't want to give my coworkers whatever I have; doctor agrees, since I'm pretty healthy but it is knocking me hard.

So...my daughter is beyond excited....she has a red-tri male Aussie pup en route. He's from Arkansas....I was worried about flying as I don't know the current temps there and I explained to her that cargo is not temp controlled.....she found out that there's a service that drives multiple pups to their intended locations in the Northeast so he's coming by car :)

She's always been on the fun side of puppies.....she did buy the book I used to crate train Dakota which also addresses discipline/ conveying disapproval to your pup without resorting to striking him/her - which had been out of print but is available again......she's planning on having a dog walker too so he's not cooped up all day. She said when she read the book it brought back memories of my training Dakota and how she used to say he was demon spawn :p

This ought to be interesting...... but fun!

Hello from Amish Country, RedhatPat here folks! First time in PIF section for me. I'm slowly reading up on the rules. I came here to give, not receive. I'm cleaning up and polishing my stuff, getting ready to snap pictures and nagging the hell out of moderators like Prism for advice on what to do and what not to do. I'm gonna throw up some high value items to the treasure chest instead of turning them around for some coin. Call me naive but I hope whoever gets my stuff, well I hope it helps them like these devices helped me, basically. In the meantime, I wanted to drop in and introduce myself to the fine folks who run these acts of charity. And hats off to the folks who have more smarts than me by coming to PIF instead of flipping out their credit cards and buying direct like I did when I started out. For the record, in case folks think "whats the catch?" there is none. Everything I will offer is in GREAT condition. If it were falling apart or buggy, it would defeat the whole purpose proving to be more of a hinderance than a help.

I just need me some good karma, what can I say. Maybe even make a friend or two along the way. Whoa, that rhymes.
