First of all, here is my current setup:

KFL+ 2nd gen on a Le Petit Gros mech mod (18350 AW battery)
28g kanthal - 7 wraps @ around 1.0 ohms

I recently made the switch to a mech from my Provari.
I was really expecting a enhanced vaping experience with better vapor production and taste, but it has been the total opposite.
Don't know why but I have been getting minimal vapor production and its making me choke after every hit!
The beginning hits are always fine, but second third fourth hits are killing my throat.
I get this tingling in my throat which makes me cough heavily.
Assuming that it was a coil issue, I would replace and rebuild my coils daily with thorough cleaning of my tank... But the same results..
With the same build and same KFL on the Provari, it was perfectly fine..
Why is this happening?
Please help!!

Maybe you aren't giving it enough power. I don't know what you have your provari set to, but I would take that resistance down to at least .5 ohm. Personally, I build at .2, but that might be too much power for your preference.

ETA: nevermind. I just realized that provari is a low power device. So maybe the above poster is right and your are giving it too much.

You build Kayfuns at 0.2 ohms?

Well since I use a 18350 battery, I was advised not to go under 0.7 ohms because the battery can explode.. So i keep it at around 1 ohm to be safe.
If you build at .2 doesn't it burn?

sorry. I posted my response too quickly. I don't actually use tank-based atomizers at all. All of my builds are on RDAs, so no it doesn't burn, but you can't really do that with what you are using.

"minimal vapor production"

Keep in mind voltage on mechs slowly drop while used. Whereas, voltage on the Provari stays @ where you set it.

"beginning hits are always fine, but second third fourth hits are killing my throat"

Have you tried taking primer hits?

ETA: I advise to stay above .75 ohms, since you're using 18350s.

So, has this happened to anyone? The throat tingling that make you choke?

If you chain vape, sometimes your wicks go dry. Cover your airflow hole and take a few quick LIGHT puffs. This should supply your wick with some extra juice. If you hear gurgling after doing so, it means you over did it, and its flooded. Easy fix is to turn whole mod upside down and blow into driptip. Juice should shoot out of airhole.

In the initial post it was said the first few puffs were fine and then it started getting harsh. Would lead me to think it was a wicking issue, not getting juice to the atty fast enough. A quick test to see if that's the problem is take some primer puffs in between, when you see a few air bubbles you'll know juice is getting in the chamber then try another vape. If you have to keep taking primer puffs to keep it wet then that can be addressed but first just make sure that's the issue.

It probably didn't show up as much with the Provari as it wasn't providing quite as much power.

What is a primer hit?

Taking a drag without firing the mod, it pulls juice to the coil and helps keep it wet. You can see this in action on the Kayfun when air bubbles come from the bottom of the chamber, that means air is getting replaced by liquid.

Thanks Nomoreash! This was the solution! It was a wicking issue.. I realized I wasn't using enough cotton..
