I've read through part of the saga in the closed thread and this thread as well.

I know some of you know him personally and I'm sure he's gone through some great tragedy.

That being said obligations are obligations. You can't just hold on to peoples money and stuff and not deliver. Whatever situation he was/is in you can always get your girlfriend/wife/friend to come and post really quickly with a quick explanation. I can personally think of no conceivable situation were you could disappear for months and not have the ability to get some sort of message out. Barring the ridiculous of course, being shot into outer space, alien abduction etc.

When people show up at your house and you refuse to return their mods something doesn't smell right anymore. When people you know offer to come over and sort out all of the mods to ship them back to owners and you refuse...again something is not right.

I truly hope all of you get your mods back and it's some sort of huge mis-understanding but if I was a betting man........

That being said depending on state law don't discount the power of small claims court. jkmtwo's advice is pretty solid and it couldn't hurt if enough people get motivated. I once had a guy welch on a significant amount of advertising in several magazines. Pizza joint. He gave me the song and dance for about two years. I ended up getting a default judgement and enlisting the help of a Sheriff. Went to his place one morning with a flat bed, some of my staff, and the sheriff. As we were loading his pizza oven into the truck he showed up with cash in hand. Imagine that. Of course this was in Canada so collection methods will differ even state by state. Liens are also a great way to press someone into action.

I agree, something is fishy when people show up at your house and you refuse to return the item. That there, in and of itself, would've raised red flags everywhere for me to make sure you know what is going on.

Imagine yourself in his position, you held on to someone else's property for an extended amount of time, said person shows up to your residence and request his or her item back. You would at least think you would go out of your way to find their property and return it to them.

While I don't doubt he went through some sort of personal issues, there is no excuse for not returning people's attempts at contacting you. Simply none.

I hope a resolution comes out of this and I hope this can be settled, but I advise you all to taken action now because the more time goes by, the harder this will be to resolve. While I hate to make light of his situation, we also have to be realistic.

It would be great if you guys took action. It would set an example for other suppliers that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

Damn straight...I just gave all my premium back-up mods to friends wanting to quit, and am left with only one APV.

I'm not struggling, but I want my baby back.

Well I'm out roughly $600 that I'm afraid I'll never get back. I sent chopper my Apex Alpha UltraMax with 2 RESs and switch assemblies, my Provari, and a brass GGTS telescope, on top of the $80+ for polisher and powder-coating services. He's ignored probably a dozen PMs from me now, and I'm pretty ....... I do have his address, so I guess my last option is to yellowpages his ... and threaten him with small claims court....what else can I do? I'm getting a little desperate here!

Try taking it to the prosecutor, I'm sure there is more than one charge this guy could be arrested on, and in my opinion he deserves to be arrested and prosecuted. It kind of screams fraud from the beginning right down to the hey I will do some for free just to show you how honest I am. The only people to get mods back from him are those that actually know him, so he kind of has to return their stuff so he has some kind of reputation and supporters so they will fight for him while he packs up shop and hightails it out of town. Even your local prosecutor or local police could probably help you out with some kind of direction on which path to take to get your items returned. I'll ask the cop that patrolls the parking lot of the college I attend on Monday and see what he can tell me, he has helped out with a few legal questions I've had for him before.

My pops is actually a lawyer, so I'll ask him what the best course of action is. Frankly, I'm just a 19 year old kid, so taking proper legal action is probably unrealistic. I worked hard to pay for those mods, and it really hurts to have been taken advantage of like I was. I'm just bummed, this bs sucks. :(
I had SUCH high hopes for choppers work, I participated in the obnoxious fanboy feeding frenzy in his thread, and I trusted the man enough to send him hundreds of dollars worth of my gear, only to have the wool pulled over my eyes. Sorry to kvetch and have myself a little pity party here, but I'm just really bummed over this whole situation. My trust for people on this forum, which until now has thrived and flourished, has been breached and there's not a lot I can do about that :(

I'd like your post Rick, but that just feels wrong. I like what you wrote but it doesn't feel right liking something that's upsetting. I feel for you and everyone else that's out right now.

I belong to a few forums and this one has the best spirit out of all of them. The most helpful people, the least elitism and by far the best community around. It's a real bummer when something like this happens and threatens the mutual trust and respect that people on this forum have for each other.

I really hope you guys get your mods back and it's all some giant mis-understanding. I know I'd be heartbroken to never see my favorite mods again. Some things are worth more then dollars or the sum of their parts.

I wonder what he is planning on doing with the mods. People would recognize them on the classies. If he took them to the pawn shop the broker would laugh at him. Also there would be too many just for his personal use.

It wouldn't be that hard to sell them in the classes, a new account, probably would have to be a new ISP, lurk the want ads and be there with a really good deal for a noob. And stuff like Provaris, SBs, and what not get sold all the time, how is someone gonna spot a Satin Silver Provari and know its definitely theirs? There are other avenues as well.

Horrible what you have all been going through :(

Besides postal fraud (federal offense) he apparently committed wire fraud as well - also federal ad it's across state lines / that is an issue for the district attorney. Find out from his post office if he changed or had his mail forwarded - then contact the district attorney - probably at his old location - they will direct you if you need to contact the DA at his new location. The DA should take it from there. ~ just a thought.

Well. This has been eye opening. I'm pretty sure now that I would never trust my mods...or money...to some Joe on a forum without solid license and solid backing. No "one man" operations for me! This is scary stuff! I'm all for entrepenuers...but they'd best establish more than a few months or a year reputation...and be bonded and registered with at least something like the BBB. or some other verifiable reference other than some "friend". Appreciate knowing now that things here aren't all puppydogs and flowers, and there is a seamy element here. Duly noted. Thanks for the heads up!

Anyone here know Chopper in person? You don't need to speak up if you do, but I'd appreciate if some1 would let him know that he has a LOT of VERY UNHAPPY customers who are going to take legal action against him if he doesn't rectify the situation. Not to mention that we have the man's home address and full name...I'm not about to get robbed without extracting some level of justice.
A while back I read that he was having some serious personal problems, which frankly, I don't give a rat's ... about. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but frankly, EVERYONE experiences hardships in their personal lives but that doesn't give you an excuse to rob a grip of innocent, trusting CUSTOMERS! I can't fathom any plausible situation in which one could justify a complete degradation of personal integrity and act out in the way that chopper has. Anyways, no sense in bursting a blood vessel over this nonsense, we'll get our mods back one way or another.

So I did some digging and pulled up Chopper's home address, home phone, facebook, full name (obviously), date of birth, email, and paypal address. Feel free to PM me and we can discuss the details. We are no longer going to be ignored by this ah, and I will take it upon myself to at the very least try and get answers from this ........

Is there any activity on his Facebook in the timespan he says he was unable to get on the forum and update members as to the status of their gear? That would make a serious dent in the communication portion of his story.

I don't know why it would, anyone who paid him via PayPal would have given him their email address.
