From what I gather Chopperguys is planning to finish the work he promised everyone before sending them their mods back. Regardless of what couldve/shouldve/wouldve been done differently I think its commendable that hes not just sending back sanded down darwins. If you have a mod with him send him an email and take things from there with him directly.

The option for legal action is still available to everyone, but I think giving the man the chance to make amends is in order. Maybe he cant afford to refund monies paid for his services but from the pic he does have the materials/equipment needed to finish what you all paid him to do. Just talk to the guy and keep in mind that this IS a holiday weekend and he might be out enjoying time with his family, or maybe he is in his garage working on everyone's mods.

Patience and clear communication is what I feel is needed in this situation.

I don't think I will be doing any future business with them strictly based on the non communication part of the problem.

It doesn't take much to pop on and make a statement tha your having problems at the moment and will be offline for a bit

It's good to hear that *so far* people will be getting their mods back, but what I find most interesting of all, is that despite all of this, if you check chopperguys profile, there is no negative feedback at all.

I too have followed this situation, and I have stood up for him and his work
I have officially changed my opinion......
When I see someone driving from another state and another offering to send the mods back and he refused both.....???

Hmmmm I smell a rat.....

I think enough is enough and if it were me and someone had my Darwin I would start with the post office and then small claims. U can't replace a Darwin can u? Can they be bought?

Heck if that doesn't work call judge Judy!! ;) I am serious! She loves Internet scammers.

Most court cases are not decided in the court room in real life. Most ppl settle way before they have to go before a judge. Simply getting served forces the person to respond.

If he is an honest business man he would understand and most likely do the same thing. He does not strike me as the kind of person who would let someone "rip him" off.

If he is truly a scammer he has it coming

Either way I hope y'all get some closure. The not knowing is most likely the worst part.

Has anyone got a count of how many mods are in limbo? Maybe start a non chit chat thread of ppl and what mods are missing? May be a starting point?
Good luck

I have so far refrained from posting but some of these posts convinced me to chime in. I have been in contact with Chopper since this all started. I encouraged him to post early on. While I do not agree with the choices he made relative to how he handled his thread and customers thru his personal crisis - I am convinced Mike is NOT a scammer. Yes, he could have handled this much better than he did. Obviously he could have posted sooner and had more direct communications with his customers (I am one and he has several of my devices and payment). However, Mike has always been well intentioned. He started this out of his love for vaping and wanted to offer a service to vapers. His prices have ALWAYS been MORE THAN FAIR - I could not even imagine anyone else offering such work at his prices. It was clear to me that he was not really in this to make a living - just a sideline labor of love.

In most cases, we vapers tend to be very supportive of one another. Not everyone handles personal crisis in a clear minded and/or professional/effective manner. Some people, when faced with substantive personal crisis, just shut down and/or lose perspective. Such may have been the case with Chopper. He clearly meant well but personal crisis landed on him and he did not handle this part of it well - by his own admission. People getting upset, thus this very thread, is certainly understandable. However, Mike HAS stepped up. He has posted a dated photo to prove he has the devices and gear to fulfill his obligations. He apologized, admitted his mistakes, advised us of his situation (lost pretty much everything in the crisis), and has promised to make things "right". He requested people email him the specifics of their gear to help him get re-established in communication with each. Such appears (according to thread posts) to be happening and he seems to be responding.

While I can still appreciate peoples' anxieties over this - I also think we need to give him a chance to make up for his mistakes and make good on his most recent promise to make all right by those he owes. After all we ARE a supportive community and if personal crisis should befall any of us - we would hope for understanding. If he lost everything in the crisis, legal action - regardless of "small claims" or otherwise - is not likely very productive (and can even make matters worse). After all, if he lost everything, you cannot draw blood from a stone.

If you are not involved, if Chopper does not have your gear and/or payment, your posting here encouraging others to take more aggressive action is not helpful. Armchair quarterbacking is never effective anyway.

While I do not know Mike/Chopper personally - outside of vaping circles via internet/skype interactions - I am convinced his intentions are sincere and I believe the BEST course of action NOW is to give him a chance to get back to his customers and their work. Clearly, ECF moderator supervision of this and his previous thread (closed by ECF moderators) is active. If ECF sees fit to give Chopper a chance to clean this all up - we can too.

If you disagree with me - that is fine and I welcome PM correspondence on this subject. However, continued posts threatening and/or advocating legal action, other confrontational approaches and/or just enflaming the situation are not helpful and not contributing to this thread in any way.

Ive read through all the posts etc .. It was extremely fishy from the very beginning. Ive never seen a builder reply after every post of someone "ooo ill shine that thing up realllll nice for yaaa!! send it to me!!" in the pic .. Everything is lumped together. How does he know what goes to who?

You dont know him .. Your speculation is just as good as anyone else's ... And it doesnt mean your right lol. Stop babying this guy and tell him you want your stuff back NOW even if its not finished. IF HE WONT RETURN YOUR PRODUCT UNFINISHED .. DONE DEAL .. Scammed.

My :2c: you guys have either been scammed, or this chopperguys is mentally ill.

And hey, if I had tons of customers stuff .. No matter what happened I would find a way to make it known at the very least by smoke signals :)

I am about halfway through this thread, and I have to say that I feel soo bad for everyone who is missing a mod, I know how I would feel if it happened to me. But I am thinking this-

If it was me who had all your mods, and then read this thread, I might be afraid to come clean now. I'm sure someone has said this already, but this is what I thought after reading some of the thread. I really hope that it works out for all the people involved.... and I will definitely think twice before sending any of my stuff to someone I don't know.

Ok, now that I have read the entire thread, I apologize if anything I said prematurely was out of line. Like Nebula said, maybe it wasn't handled in the best way, but it looks like he will be making good on everything. I am optimistic that everyone will get their beloved mods back. I am also optimistic that they will be returned in better condition than they were originally sent in(work being done). I must say this was a riveting read...... and I wish the best to everyone involved, including chopperguy.
