I really hope you guys get your mods back. I don't blame you for trusting him he does great work. I would think some of his close friends here would have a cell phone number or perhaps live close and could stop by his house.

Didn't something similar to this happen with a woman named Sharpi? People sent her money and she never sent a single tank.

Oh I had another thought. Did you guys already paypal him to pay for the services? If so and you didn't click gift you may have some recourse.

I have a suggestion I have not seen brought up yet regarding this situation.

After reading some of the closed thread regarding Chopperguys and what originally happened it appears pretty clear to me one of 2 things happened.

Either Chopperguys completely ripped all you folks off and all your mods have been sold off and nobody is ever going to see them again OR he really did have some sort of catastrophic personal issues and at this point has either lost interest in making this right or he is too embarrassed to even attempt to make it right.

If it's the second scenario how about one or 2 folks that live the closest to him just offer to physically go over to Chopperguys house, sort out what mod goes where and get them all boxed up and sent out (returned) to the original owners.

It seems to me this is now the ONLY possible way this could be sorted out.

I agree...There were several people who said they were in regular contact with him. They knew what had happened, but felt it was not their place to disclose--true--what happened. I'm going to try and PM them and see what they might be willing to do to get something out of this mess.

It just seems bizarre that he fell off the face of the earth like that.

between here and there
I too am waiting for a Darwin I sent him. I have not posted because he asked me not too. But since this has gone on so long, I feel I must say something. I did stop by his house. He told me his story and his entire household was in boxes getting ready to move. He did not disclose where tho. I asked him to look but he did not even know where to start to look in the boxes of stuff. I know, in the past he was doing work for nhaler, but don't know if he still is or not. He promised as soon as he got settled he would straighten this all out. But that was in June. He says he has no internet connections so he can't post anything. At this point I still don't know what to think. All I know is we don't have our mods. And to me this is criminal. Not suggesting anything, just saying.

It really speaks to some of you people's character that you are so trusting and willing to understand his circumstance(s). It might be time to realize that he was conducting a business, not a charity. What he is currently doing is criminal (regardless of his circumstances).

You should all contact the police in his town to file a complaint as well as contacting ic3 (FBI's Internet Crime) Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) | Home . Follow that up with registering a complaint with Paypal and your banks/credit card companies.

You are right, it is criminal, if it had been me, I'd left his house with my Darwin, or.......well......you know

I think the being understanding portion of this has long since past, he supposedly had a family tragedy happen in June?

Yet, the OP says he was told that his pv was finished in April, let's see here, that's April, May.....June, it doesn't take that long to get stuff mailed out.

Whether he had a personal tragedy or not, which, to be honest, I can't find in me once ounce of sympathy for him, because I'm calling b.s..

In my work, I run into con men every single day and night, I know how they operate, I know how they think, the way they talk, this guy is a con man, the mark is there, he was leading people on for months prior to all of this stuff supposedly happened, and let's say it did happen, what about the months prior. There is no excuse.

I really do hope you guys get your stuff back, but I feel it is likely you won't, most likely, the best you can hope for are a criminal investigation, and this is likely something the FBI won't care about, small potatoes, which leaves you in the hands of local law enforcement, that's a crap shoot at best. Your best bet is to band together in a civil suit, or, maybe the best way to go, IMHO, is a bunch of little small claims civil suits, which in the end might not be worth the financial gain, but after a judgement you can really begin to harass him financially, liens, garnishments, and what not.

given the more recent "disclosures" in this topic, I have to agree with you now.

appears that he was "up and around" and able to move and pack boxes.

There ARE free computers in any public library, even the tiny podunk town I live in. One hardly needs an internet connection in the house anymore.

Unless for some reason, the stuff got damaged (OR was fenced, in which case somebody is vaping with your nice stuff right now that they bought off the back of a truck. )

He could STILL go to the library, log in here, and explain whatever needs explaining.

I would contact that local police as well as postmaster where you sent your stuff and find out what your OPTIONS for filing complaints are, and let them direct you from there.

I don't think a lawsuit would work...if he had problems and his house was boxed up. He was probably moving. Maybe being evicted for lack of payment. Therefore he has no money.
I would suggest someone find where he is now, go to his house and get the e-gigarettes in question. If he doesn't have them, he needs to come up with why and where they went to.
Come back and go from there. I'm sure everyone remembers what they sent, what might have gotten finished.
I would think someone involved in this would be willing to do this for the whole.

A lawsuit is not about money now, he will have money again, a job, a car, if you have a judgement on someone, not only can a court reward you with money taken from their check every week, but you can keep them from ever getting a loan, from being able to buy a new car, sell an old car, own a house or whatever, if they want to do these things they have to pay you first.

Getting a judgement would be easy and effective, perhaps not right away but it would work. As jkm said, he will have money again. While the FBI wouldn't take an invested interest in it, it is theft and it crosses state lines; making a report wouldn't hurt anything. There is documented proof through the forums as well as corresponding back and forth.

I'm willing to bet good money that he's sold all the PVs that were sent to him. If you're hurting for money it's alot easier to sell other peoples items than your own. Probably figured he could claim them lost in transit or something. Either way I feel sorry for the people who were scammed, but I'd give up hope of having the items returned at this point.

Reading through his thread that was locked made me kind of suspicious from the beginning. he was saying send me your mods I will take them apart and crome them for you, oh and I will be making my own mods soon as well. That made me wonder right away if he was taking apart the other mods to get the specs on how to make the mods so he could steal those designs to make the mods he was going to start making. Seemed like the perfect way to rip off modders to me. Seeing that those who were defending him in the previous thread have not done so here they either don't visit the other forums or now realize the guy is a scammer.

I hope all of you get your mods back or some kind of monetary satisfaction from this guy, and I would suggest contacting the authorities. I would not let this guy get away with it, a thief is a thief, and if he gets away with it now he will get away with it again from the next unsuspecting people he runs a new con on.
