Today we introduced my future MIL to vaping.

Her very first experience was not good. She tried an ego by using the exact same method she uses on her analogs. After nearly coughing up a lung, I pulled out the automatic that I started with, which is an analog clone. It's a really cheaply made model and not something I would give as a gift, but after she learned to adjust her draw, she loved it. Although it was funny watching her try to flick the ashes into the ash tray a few times. (They make a nice pinging sound when the battery is tapped on the side of an ash tray)

So after she sat there with it in her hand for a few hours, she commented that she had a full pack of analogs sitting there the whole time and she didn't even feel like she wanted one.

We talked with her about getting her a starter kit for Christmas. She listed her preferences, which is what I think a lot of us started with. An analog clone, auto.

So my question is,
Would the 510 be a good choice for her, or should we consider the KR8?

I am leaning toward the 510 because I think it won't be long before she wants to upgrade to something like the ego, and I figure anything she buys, like atty's, carto's could still be used.

Thanks in advance.

Then something automatic that could be upgraded later? Or that you could use if she decides she isn't up for it?
I just started and am using a Blu starter kit, which is working for me, but quickly becomes "not enough" for most, and isn't very universal (so I'm learning).
I am sure someone more experienced than I has good ideas -

The upgrading is why I kind of leaned toward the 510. Since I am new at all this myself I just don't know how much the 510 simulates an analog.
I do know that a lot of the parts, from the atty up to the tip, from the 510 can be used on larger models such as the ego, and from what I have seen on here, the 510 seems to be the universal thread for a lot of the new products.

I am very new at this myself, so kind of looking for help so I don't have her making the mistakes I did starting off.

I read and hear that the Volt is a popular starter. Seriously though, if pushing a button is too difficult, that shows a little resistance to the concept. It can of course never be like a cigarette. Automatics are popular with beginners, but also a downfall. While learning the atty/carto routine, it's easy to have a few drips of juice. It only takes a few drops to ruin an auto battery. The battery is the weak link, there are great strides in battery technology. Perhaps in a few years, there may be a cig-a-like.

Look at it this way, if you find anything that works, even for a few months, really, price is no object. You can afford any device you want.

I totally agree with the Volt suggestion!! It's my third pv and I'm absolutely loving it. Very easy to use and not very intimidating because it's the same size as an analog. Batteries have really good life, and you can get a kit with a personal charging case (PCC) to make things even easier. Until she gets used to it, she might prefer pre-filled cartos, and Smokeless Image sells them for a really good price, and also sell the juice so that if she finds a favorite flavour from there she can buy the pre-filled cartos and just top them up with the juice. They sell sampler pack cartos as well so that she can try a variety of flavours with minimal cost. The cartos last a really long time and the Volt packs a big punch and tonnes of vapour for a little pv!! Smokeless Image also sells sealed automatic batteries now too, which makes them stand up to juice spills that may occur when she's getting the hang of things. Okay. I'm going on and on now, but I love the Volt!! Smokeless Image also has really great customer service and quick shipping.

There are several other pv's that are the same model as the Volt, and you can't go wrong with any of them - the Bloog (with the MaxxFusion cartos) and the Halo G6 are some examples.

I set my mom up with a new pink ego (650), and reg. cartos. After a crash course in filling cartos she took right to it.
She smoked 40+ years. Like most people...she liked tobaco type juice... Now she almost only vapes berry flavors.

And of course now my brother, his wife and about half adozen other people are interested.
A $40 ego and a pack of good cartos can go along way. My mom always smoked ultra lights so lr cartos arn't really necessary
In her case.
Whats funny is my mom said my brother did'nt want to try it at first... Cause it was pink... lol.

The button concept isn't that tough and manuals are truly superior to autos at this stage. You just hold the button when you're dragging and release when done. Then you also have the ability to click the button 3 or 5 times quickly depending on the model and turn the thing off completely so you don't have to worry about it burning up in your pocket or purse.

    in a cave, eh?
A lot of people are only ready for a button model after going with something that looks like a cigarette and wanting something stronger.

As a starter kit for someone hesitant to try e-cigarettes, I would generally recommend a KR808. The Volt is one such device that comes at a good price. It's a little weird that SmokeLess Image ships a PCC without a separate battery charger with their kits. But a PCC is a good way to keep the batteries charged and going throughout the day.

If you want to upgrade to an Ego or better later, you can always get a cheap 510-808 adapter so you can use up all of your leftover 808 cartos.

I would recommend getting a 510 kit with multiple batteries, I saw some kits that include auto and manual batteries. I would also recommend getting a good amount of prefilled carts since she will probably not be dripping or filling her own carts, unless you are going to do it for her.it being thanksgiving week I have seen tons of ecig sales going on. when you find a distributor you like you should check their facebook page for additional discounts. so far I have ordered from 3 different distributors; ecigexpress, chi-townvapers and healthcabin. but I am a huge bargain shopper and almost never buy anything that is not on sale. this is just my $.02 and I am a noob.

Smok Tech 510 cartomizer kit auto batteries

12% off this week with the coupon code 12forturkey Hope that helps :)

+1 for this kit. I've shared it with a lot of people for their first kit and they loved it. I can't vouch for the auto but the manual (has a little button) will let her control the draw and get more satisfaction from vaping. If you're getting an auto you want one that doesn't have a microphone in it and the longer the cutoff the better. This one has no mic and a 12 second cutoff. Very nice. Sure was nice of you to share your ecig and shop for her. Lucky lady. :)

I just ordered my nephew an eGo passthrough for Christmas. He hasn't started using an e-cig yet, but I'm hoping that having one will get him to quit analogs. He has tried mine (eGo passthrough) and was ok with it, so if he has one maybe he will keep using it. The nice thing about this one is that you can vape while it's charging, or unplug and vape. Here's one for $16.99, you will still need cartos and juice, and if you order 5-pack of cartos you get a free bottle of juice.

eGo 510 650mAh USB Passthrough Battery

And as far as auto vs manual, you have to be very careful not to get juice on the auto battery, it will short out. The manuals are sealed so no problems from leaks or overfilling. I have both, and it doesn't take long for the button pushing to become second nature (I even absently try to push a non-existent button on my 510 once in a while :)). Just something to think about.
